The next morning, Sana arrived at school, expecting to see Momo waiting for her like she usually did. Momo would normally pick her up, and the rare times she didn't, they'd always meet up before class. But today felt off. Sana walked to her locker, her eyes wandering the halls, searching for any sign of Momo. As the minutes ticked by, her worry grew. With only five minutes left before class, Momo was still nowhere in sight.

Sighing, Sana closed her locker, feeling a little disheartened. Just as she was about to head to class, she glanced back and finally spotted Momo walking in a rush to her own locker. Sana's face brightened, relief washing over her. She quickly approached her.

"Momo!" she called out, her voice full of warmth.

Momo's heart softened at the sound of Sana's voice, but the reminder of Sana's dad's words quickly clouded her emotions. She turned around, managing a smile. "Hey!"

Sana hugged her, putting an arm around Momo's neck, and Momo softly returned the embrace, wrapping her arms around Sana's waist. It felt comforting, but also a little bittersweet. When they pulled away, Sana looked at her with curious eyes.

"Why didn't you call me last night?" Sana asked, her eyebrows raised in concern.

Momo hesitated, her mind racing for an excuse. "Um... yeah, sorry. My mom needed help with something, and I just... forgot." Her voice was uncertain, and Sana could sense it, but before she could press further, Momo quickly leaned in, kissing her softly on the lips.

"I'm really sorry, babe, but I'm gonna be late for class," Momo added, trying to divert the conversation.

Sana blinked, a little taken aback. Normally, Momo wasn't one to worry about being late, especially not when it meant carrying Sana's books or spending a few extra minutes together. It felt out of character.

"Oh... okay," Sana said, still a bit confused as Momo gathered her books.

"I'll see you later," Sana added, her tone uncertain.

"Yeah, later," Momo replied before jogging off to her class.

Sana stood there for a moment, feeling a little thrown off by Momo's strange behavior. As she made her way to class, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Momo had seemed distant, and the whole interaction felt rushed. Throughout class, her thoughts kept drifting back to Momo, replaying the morning in her head.

She tried to shrug it off, telling herself it was probably nothing. But deep down, she couldn't help but feel like something wasn't quite right.

After her first class, Sana sat down at the cafeteria with her friends, her eyes scanning the room as she searched for Momo. Normally, Momo was the first to arrive at lunch, eager to get the freshest food. But today, Momo was nowhere in sight. It was strange, considering how much of a big eater she knew Momo was. Sana sighed softly, trying not to dwell on it too much, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.

It wasn't until their second class of the day that she finally saw Momo again. After class, Momo usually drove Sana home, but earlier, Sana had received a text that left her disappointed.

"Hey babe, I'm sorry, my mother called me early, so I can't take you home."

Sana's face fell as she read it, her fingers hovering over the screen before she typed back, "Okay, just let me know if anything happened."

But there was no reply from Momo after that. Sana tried not to overthink it, accepting a ride home with her friend instead. She spent the rest of the evening trying to brush off the strange vibe, hoping things would feel normal the next day.
