Leehan lay sprawled on Taesan's bed, his cheeks flushed from the alcohol. He mumbled incoherently, his words a mix of nonsense and surprising clarity. Taesan sat beside him, watching with a mix of amusement and concern.
"Taesan," Leehan slurred, his eyes half-closed. "Do you know why the scarecrow won an award?"
Taesan raised an eyebrow, caught off guard by the sudden joke. "Why?"
"Because he was outstanding in his field," Leehan giggled, his laughter infectious.
Taesan chuckled, shaking his head. "You're something else, Leehan."
Leehan's expression turned serious, his eyes searching Taesan's face. "Do you love her?"
"Who?" Taesan asked, confused.
"Seo Minji," Leehan whispered, his voice barely audible. "Do you love her?"
Taesan's heart skipped a beat. "Leehan, it's not like that. Minji is just a colleague."
Leehan's eyes filled with unshed tears. "Then why did you kiss me? Will you ever kiss me again?"
Taesan was taken aback by the raw vulnerability in Leehan's voice. He didn't know how to respond. "Leehan, you're drunk. You need to rest."
Leehan shook his head, his hand reaching out to grasp Taesan's. "No, I need to know. Do you feel anything for me?"
Taesan sighed, his heart heavy. "Leehan, you're my student. It's complicated."
Leehan's grip tightened. "But I love you, Taesan. I think I always have."
Taesan's breath caught in his throat. He had suspected Leehan's feelings, but hearing them spoken aloud was different. He gently pried Leehan's hand from his and stood up. "You need to sleep, Leehan. We'll talk about this when you're sober."
Leehan's eyes filled with tears, but he nodded, too exhausted to argue. Taesan watched him for a moment, then left the room, his mind racing.
The next morning, Leehan woke up with a pounding headache. He groaned, burying his face in the pillow. Memories of the previous night came flooding back, and he felt a wave of embarrassment.
Taesan entered the room, a glass of water and some painkillers in hand. "Here, take these."
Leehan sat up slowly, accepting the pills. "Thanks," he mumbled, avoiding Taesan's gaze.
"Do you remember what you said last night?" Taesan asked gently.
Leehan's cheeks flushed. "I... I think so. I'm sorry, Taesan. I didn't mean to make things awkward."
Taesan sat down beside him. "It's okay, Leehan. We need to talk about this. But first, you need to eat something."
Leehan nodded, grateful for the distraction. They ate breakfast in silence, the tension between them palpable. After they finished, Taesan turned to Leehan, his expression serious.
"Leehan, I care about you. But we need to be careful. You're my student, and there are boundaries we can't cross."
Leehan looked down, his heart heavy. "I understand. But it's hard, Taesan. I can't help how I feel."
Taesan sighed, reaching out to gently lift Leehan's chin. "I know. And I'm here for you, no matter what. But we need to take things one step at a time."
Leehan nodded, tears brimming in his eyes. "Okay. One step at a time."
At the university, the atmosphere was still tense, but the rumors had started to die down. Leehan focused on his studies, determined to prove himself. Taesan continued to support him, their bond growing stronger with each passing day.
Despite the challenges, Leehan felt a sense of hope. He didn't know what the future held, but he was ready to face it, one step at a time, with Taesan by his side.
