Hello my fellow readers!
I've decided to take this book down from Wattpad in preparation for its publishing. After series of editing and proofing I am hoping for the book to be published on Amazon and other fellow book stores some time next year. I thank each and everyone of you for your continued support and encouragement. Don't fret, I will continue to write other projects on this platform along this journey. I do ask for your continued patience as I embark on new life experiences, editing, and so forth.
Here's a sample of the first chapter of Drama of A Teen. Please note this is still a rough draft.
Sleep was a beautiful thing, especially in Adrienne's house. It was a foreign language when you had four aggravating siblings who didn't know when to shut up.
"Adrienne! Get your butt up and get ready for school!" her mother yelled from down the hall.
Adrienne rolled over and squinted her eyes open to look at the time at the clock. She smacked her lips, rolled back over, and pulled the covers over her head. She could snooze for a couple more minutes.
After a minute or two, she heard snickering and loud whispers. She didn't need to open her eyes to know it was her six-year-old, twin brothers.
"Get out!" she shouted at them, throwing pillows at them.
"Michael! Marcus! I'm not playing!" Adrienne exclaimed, narrowly avoiding throwing the house phone.
Once the boys finally left, Adrienne got comfortable again. Just as she was about to fall back asleep, her mother barged into her room.
"I'm not going to tell you again to get up. The next time I'm just going to hit you. And why are all these pillows on the floor? Girl, I did not buy all these pillows for them to be on the floor. Pick them up," her mother yelled.
Adrienne just looked at her and let her rant. After a while, she tuned her mother out as she sat up in bed.
"Get up. You're moving too slow," her mother yelled.
"I'm up. Dang, it's too early in the morning for your yelling," Adrienne mumbled.
"What did you say?" her mother snapped.
Adrienne groaned, rolling her eyes as she got out of bed. Her mother, Diane, was the most annoying person next to her little devils of siblings. One reason why she was annoying was of course her constant yelling. It seemed like Adrienne was the only one she yelled at. Reason number two: she kept getting pregnant with these low-down men then expected them to be there for her. She had five kids at the age of thirty-one and all of them were by different men. Then she had the nerve to judge those women she saw on the Maury show. If she wasn't so "private" with her life, they would be on that show a good handful of times. Adrienne wasn't throwing shade, just sipping her tea.
"Adrienne, come help your brothers tie their shoes!" her mother yelled, causing Adrienne to roll her eyes. Could she finish getting dressed first?
Being the oldest, Adrienne had no choice but to help with her younger siblings. Especially when her dear mother decided to go out with her nonexistent girlfriends throughout the week, leaving Adrienne with her precious little demons. If Adrienne sounded like she was complaining, it was because she was. I mean what fifteen-year-old wanted to babysit a whiny seven-month-old baby, monster six-year-old twin boys, and a bad-mouthed twelve-year-old girl?
Exactly, no one. Adrienne wanted to be able to live out her teenage year's drama-free. She shouldn't have to worry about what her mom was going on. Instead, she should be worried about grades and hanging with her friends.
"Adrienne!"
Adrienne sighed. That's just not her life.
Later at school, the drama didn't stop. Her school was full of cliques. Students hung around with who they belonged, and you didn't go outside of that rule. Of course, you had the typical jocks and cheerleaders, band members, choir members, and the geeks and nerds. Then there was Adrienne, the person that didn't give a damn about group status. She hung around with whoever she wanted to and who she hung around was only one person.
