We get to Savannah just before five in the evening. Then sun is still shining quite brightly but I know it's on the verge of setting, considering the time.
"Georgia, Georgia, Georgia!" Hannah chants, pumping her fists in the air. I'm still bitter with her for posting that video on Instagram but I have to get over it or else we won't have any fun. So instead of sulking, I laugh at her.
"I'm sure they'll be a RV park around here." I comment while she chants. She peers out the window and points.
"Look! There's one a few miles from here... Biltmore?"
I follow the signs to this Biltmore location she's talking about and find it with great difficulty considering it's hidden within this forest looking place. Hannah calls up the number with her phone and gets out once I park in front of the building to reserve a spot. Clementine looks lost without her and hisses at me when I try to pet her.
"It's not that bad," She says once she comes back, holding a map. "Not too expensive and they allow pets."
I shrug. "Where are we staying?"
She shows me where on the map and I drive over, parking the van when we get there. It's very green for one, with trees and vines everywhere, which makes the place seem... kind of eerie to be honest. It's giving me the creeps.
"This is so perfect." Hannah says nonetheless. "Hey, let's pull out the awning and the fold out table." She says and I look at her, sceptically at first.
"There's an awning?" She nods. "Then why did we camp out underneath a tree last night?!"
She laughs. "The stars, obviously. It's not as cool seeing them from underneath something."
I shake my head, not understanding her logic. "Whatever. Come on, let's pull it out."
The awning is pretty sweet: I guess to go with the colour theme of the whole thing, it's pink and white with frills on the edges. It reminds me of candy canes at Christmas time and my teeth hurt just thinking about all the sugar.
"Do you wanna do anything else today?" I ask Hannah. She's stroking Clementine who is rolling in the grass. "I saw a few restaurants on our way down here."
She shrugs. "I don't know, really." Then her eyes light up. "Let's order takeout!"
"Takeout?"
"Chinese or Pizza?"
"Wait -"
"Pizza it is!" She whips out her phone and starts dialling the number for a pizza place presumably.
I smile and shake my head, wondering how I got myself into this whole situation in the first place. I'm not complaining but it's strange how all of this suddenly just hit me like a flurry of events. This time one month ago, I didn't even know Hannah's name and I was still thinking Chloe was going to be here and that we'd mess about together during the summer. I was also planning on telling her how I felt as well.
Now, I'm in the middle of Savannah which is miles away from my home, I'm going to Chloe instead and... I've kissed Candela.
Well, technically she was the one who kissed me.
"Pizza is on its way! Hope you like pepperoni." Hannah hums.
"I'm Greek," I mutter, "It's in my blood to like pepperoni." I sit next to her and Clementine on the grass. "Kidding, the only meat in my blood is lamb. Where are you from, Hannah?"
"Me? Well, my mom's from Nigeria and my dad is from Korea." She explains. "They both grew up in the US though so..." She shrugs.
"That's a cool mix. Can you speak any of those languages?"
