"Now, first we so have to visit a donut shop." Hannah instructs, pointing at one outlined on the map.

Right now we're at a motel at the edge of Washington DC. It's not too shabby, but I do wish Clementine would stop meowing longingly at the moon from our little balcony. I think she thinks she's part wolf or something like that.

"Why the donut shop first?"

Hannah shrugs. "I want a donut and a cup of coffee for breakfast."

"No peanut butter eggs?" I tease and she shoves me to the ground. I laugh from below, lying on the itchy carpet and thinking that it was so worth it.

"Seriously, Nate, I really want a chocolate filled donut to start off my morning." She says and starts highlighting the street on map. I sit up and shake my hair, feeling it start to get messier by the second.

"And a cup of coffee too, huh?" I wiggle my eyebrows and she sticks her tongue out at me, seemingly unimpressed. But then she smiles and I know that I'm okay for now.

"I actually don't like coffee particularly – it smells so bad,"

"What kind of coffee are you smelling?" I stand up and brush myself off, then go and sit on the other single bed placed across from hers. She shrugs.

"Every coffee. It's just a toxic smell, you can almost feel it poisoning your blood and waking you up." Then she looks off at the wall like it's a camera and this is a public service announcement. "Remember kids, water is the best thing for you to drink."

I blink, confused by what she's doing. She doesn't even acknowledge me, turning back to the map and highlighting another street.

"Okay, so next, we go to um... The White House? That okay?"

"Sure,"

"After which we can just walk around until we get to Lincoln Memorial, all the war memorials, the national mall and eat ice cream forever."

A piece of my hair decides to flop over my forehead until it almost covers my eyes, telling me that I really need a haircut (or a comb). "Aren't we visiting the Space Needle?"

"Wrong Washington."

"Oh yeah,"

"Did you know that the Washington Monument is one hundred and sixty nine metres tall?" I comment lazily as Hannah leans back to take a photo of it. "And be careful because of your eyesight."

"Oh, really?" She says, taking the photo and then looking at me with actual interest.

I nod viciously. "Yeah. It's also made of marble, granite and... genesis? I think the rock is called genesis."

"Genesis? I didn't know genesis was a name for a stone, I thought it was just a book in the Bible."

Clementine paws at Hannah's Chuck Taylors, wanting to be picked up by her. I'm given her half eaten donut as she comforts the demon in kitty form and end up finishing it for her.

Believe it or not, after visiting a donut shop and getting enough donuts to feed the mafia, we got lost. There was a presidential parade thing in front of us which slowed us down and made us miss the turning to get to the White House, instead leaving us to end up near a park. So we took a detour and found ourselves near the Washington Monument which is quite monumental.
