Lola had been mulling over Anton's strange proposal for days, and though it seemed ridiculous at first, something about his earnestness had softened her resolve. Maybe it was the way he truly believed he could help her take revenge on Sungchan, or maybe it was just a way to escape her post-breakup misery. Either way, when she agreed to his plan, she knew one thing: Anton would need a major makeover.
It was the first Tuesday, and they had decided to meet at one of the busiest shopping districts in Seoul, a place where fashion-conscious crowds moved in a constant buzz. Lola stood waiting by a storefront, dressed in a casual but perfectly put-together outfit. Her eyes scanned the crowd, and then she saw him—Anton, in his typical disheveled state, looking lost in a sea of stylish strangers.
His oversized shirt, ill-fitting jeans, and those thick glasses made him stand out in all the wrong ways. Lola couldn't help but smirk. "Well, this is going to be fun."
When he finally reached her, Anton smiled shyly, shoving his hands in his pockets. "Hey," he said softly, his voice barely audible above the city noise.
Lola took one look at him, her eyes narrowing playfully. "Okay, first thing's first—we're giving you a total transformation. If we're going to pull this off, you need to look like someone Sungchan would actually be jealous of."
Anton blinked, unsure of what to say. "Uh, what's wrong with how I look now?"
She grinned. "Everything."
He chuckled nervously, running a hand through his shaggy hair. "I guess that's fair."
Without another word, she grabbed his hand and led him into a trendy clothing store. Lola was in her element, flipping through racks of shirts, jackets, and jeans, while Anton stood awkwardly in the middle of the store, unsure of how to even begin.
"Try this one on," she said, handing him a sleek black button-up shirt. "And these," she added, tossing him a pair of fitted jeans.
Anton took the clothes, disappearing into the fitting room. He stared at himself in the mirror for a moment, feeling completely out of place. But when he put on the new clothes and stepped out, he noticed Lola's eyes widen.
"Wow," she muttered under her breath. She hadn't expected it, but underneath the loser aesthetics, Anton was... kind of a soft hottie.
"You clean up nice," she said, trying to play it cool.
"Really?" Anton asked, blushing a little under her gaze.
"Really," she said, smiling. "But we're not done yet."
She led him to a salon next, where they gave him a haircut that rid him of his shaggy locks, styling his hair into something sleek and modern. Finally, they swapped his thick glasses for a pair of minimalist frames that emphasized his striking eyes rather than hiding them.
When it was all done, Anton hardly recognized himself. He stood in front of the mirror, blinking in disbelief. It was as if he had stepped into someone else's body.
Lola stood beside him, her arms crossed and a smirk on her face. "Not bad," she said, giving him an appreciative once-over. "I mean, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you were a totally different guy."
Anton chuckled, still in awe of his reflection. "I feel like a totally different guy."
They left the salon and decided to take a break at Han River. The sun was beginning to set, casting a warm golden glow over the city. They picked up hamburgers from a nearby food truck and found a quiet spot by the riverbank, where they could watch the sun dip below the horizon.
