After a heartfelt conversation, Anton had finally persuaded his parents to let him stay the night at Lola's place. The excitement coursed through him as he anticipated spending more time with her, but his parents' approval came with a condition: their butler, Mr. Choi, would accompany him to ensure Anton received the care he needed. It felt awkward, but Anton knew it was a small price to pay for the chance to be with Lola.
As the sun dipped below the horizon on Monday night, Anton arrived in front of Lola's house. The warm glow of the lights spilled from the windows, promising comfort and laughter inside. He couldn't help but smile, imagining the evening they would share.
When he stepped inside, the chaos of dinner time enveloped him. The smell of something delicious wafted through the air, but his heart sank slightly when he spotted Sungchan and Bobbi lounging in the living room.
"Hey, look who's here!" Bobbi exclaimed, jumping up from her seat with a grin. "The rich boy himself!"
Lola, who had just entered the room behind Anton, looked mortified. "What are you two doing here?" she whispered, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment.
Anton chuckled, sensing her distress. "Well, I see we have a full house," he said, trying to ease the tension. "I hope this means more fun!"
Lola shot him a look of disbelief. "Fun? You think this is fun?"
"Come on, it'll be great!" he reassured her, leaning closer. "I'm here for you, right? And besides, I brought some gifts."
Lola raised an eyebrow, curiosity piqued. "Gifts? What kind of gifts?"
Anton grinned and turned to Mrs. Park, who had just entered the room. "Good evening, Mrs. Park! I'm Anton, a friend of Lola's," he introduced himself, careful to emphasize the word "friend" to spare Lola's mom any potential embarrassment.
"Oh, Anton! So nice to finally meet you!" Mrs. Park beamed, her eyes sparkling with interest. "Lola talks about you all the time!"
"Only the good stuff, I hope!" he replied, his smile warm.
Lola rolled her eyes but couldn't help but smile at the sight of Anton's charm working on her mother. "Mom, it's not like that—"
"Of course, it's not, sweetie," Mrs. Park interrupted, winking at Anton. "What brings you here?"
"Just wanted to show my appreciation for having me over," Anton said, reaching into his bag and pulling out the beautifully wrapped gifts. "I brought some things for the family."
"Oh, you didn't have to!" Mrs. Park exclaimed, taking the first package. Inside were luxurious skincare products and ginseng items that made her eyes widen in delight. "This is so thoughtful, Anton! Thank you!"
"Only the best for you, Mrs. Park," he said sincerely, watching her joy light up the room. He then handed over a sleek set of bicycle parts to Mr. Park, who had just walked in, looking curious.
"Wow, Anton! These are great! You know I love cycling!" Mr. Park exclaimed, examining the parts with enthusiasm.
"And for your little brother," Anton continued, revealing a stunning guitar from its case, "I hope this makes him happy."
Lola's younger brother ran over, eyes sparkling with excitement as he exclaimed, "A guitar? No way!"
Anton smiled, watching the boy's joy. "It was mine, but I think it'll be better in your hands."
"Dude, you should've brought something for yourself!" Bobbi teased, poking Anton playfully in the ribs.
"Bobbi!" Sungchan chided with a laugh, nudging her lightly. "Keep it down!"
