It had been three years since everything had settled. Daniel and Clara had built a peaceful life together, enjoying each other's company and the quiet moments that came with being out of the spotlight. One evening, as they sat on the balcony of their penthouse, sipping coffee and watching the city skyline, Daniel knew it was time to ask her the question that had been weighing on his mind for months.

He turned to her, his expression softer than usual. "Clara," he began, "what do you think about going back to the cabin? The one I renovated in Alaska. I've been thinking... maybe we should move there permanently, away from all this chaos. I want to retire and spend my days with you, just the two of us. There'd still be a small security detail, and we'd have all the comforts—vehicles, supplies—everything we need. But mostly, it'd be just us."

Clara blinked, surprised but not entirely caught off guard. She stared at him for a moment, taking it all in, before leaning back in her chair with a playful smirk. "So... what you're saying is, after spending millions renovating the cabin and basically turning it into a luxury fortress, you want us to become modern-day hermits?"

Daniel chuckled at her sarcasm, a grin spreading across his face. "Something like that, yeah. Modern-day hermits, but with good Wi-Fi and a chef on speed dial."

Clara laughed, shaking her head. "Well, as long as you promise we won't have to hunt for our dinner every night, I think I can get on board with the whole 'hermit' thing."

She paused for a moment, her smile fading slightly as she grew serious. "Honestly, I've been thinking about it too. Living quietly, away from the madness... just the two of us. It sounds perfect. I'm ready."

Daniel's eyes lit up, a wave of relief and excitement washing over him. "You mean it?"

She nodded, reaching for his hand. "Yeah. I mean it. Let's go be hermits together."

Daniel squeezed her hand, his heart full. They sat there for a while longer, both of them imagining their future in the cabin, away from the chaos of the world, ready to start the next chapter of their lives.

In the weeks that followed, everything moved quickly. Daniel officially stepped down from his position at the company, handing the reins over to Mark, who was both honored and overwhelmed. The office buzzed with emotion, as many found it hard to imagine the company without Daniel's leadership, but the decision had been made. It was time.

Mark, though sad to see Daniel leave, accepted the responsibility with determination. "I'll make sure to visit every month," he promised Daniel, a hint of sadness in his voice but also gratitude. Daniel clapped him on the shoulder with a grin. "You better, or I'll have to come drag you up to Alaska myself."

The preparations for the move were just as thorough. Randy and six other detail members agreed to accompany Daniel and Clara to the remote Alaskan cabin, each of them understanding the unique kind of peace and isolation they were about to embrace. Daniel, always ahead of things, had already arranged comfortable accommodations for the team in cabins not too far from his and Clara's, ensuring that even in their remote retreat, they wouldn't be completely alone.

Clara, on the other hand, was in high spirits, packing and organizing things with an energy that left everyone, including Daniel, a little amused. She ran through the penthouse with bags in her hands, making funny comments as she tossed things into boxes. "Do you think I should pack more bear spray, or will your charm keep them at bay?" she quipped one afternoon, holding up an oversized can of bear repellent with a grin.

Daniel, lounging on the couch as he watched her, laughed and shook his head. "I think we'll be fine with just one can. We've got Randy, after all. And if worse comes to worst, I'll use my negotiation skills with the bears."

Clara threw a playful eye roll his way. "Right, because your boardroom tactics will totally work on a grizzly. 'Let's settle this over coffee,'" she mimicked, her tone mocking but filled with affection.

As the days inched closer to their departure, the penthouse became a maze of boxes and suitcases. Clara darted around, making last-minute plans, often pausing to crack another sarcastic joke or teasing Daniel about how he was going to survive without his penthouse luxuries. "I give it a week before you miss your heated floors," she teased one evening.

Daniel smirked, shaking his head. "As long as I've got you there, I'll survive."

The excitement of a new chapter was undeniable, and with each passing day, their dream of leaving the chaos behind and starting fresh in the Alaskan wilderness felt more real. The adventure was about to begin.

Later that month, Daniel and Clara left for Alaska, embarking on the new chapter they both longed for. The vast wilderness, the quiet, and the simplicity of the cabin life provided the change they needed—a far cry from the bustling corporate world they'd left behind. The air felt fresher, the days slower, and every moment together more meaningful.

Daniel found peace in ways he hadn't expected. The constant noise of his old life faded, replaced by the calming rhythms of nature. And Clara, always by his side, brought a lightness to every day, her playful spirit filling their home with joy. It was the life they had both envisioned, free from the demands of the world outside.

Though they remained out of sight from the public eye, one person still knew the details of their lives—Mark. As the new CEO, he handled the company, but more importantly, he stayed connected with Daniel and Clara. He was their only close link to the outside world, the only one who truly knew how they were doing. Every now and then, he'd visit, sharing news from the city and updates from the life they once knew.

But the rest of the world was left to wonder. For most, Daniel and Clara had disappeared into the unknown, their whereabouts a mystery. Yet, what mattered most was that they were happy—deeply and undeniably happy. After everything they had gone through, they had found the peace they deserved, together in their quiet, remote sanctuary.

And in the end, that was enough. They had each other, and that was all they needed.
