Weeks passed, and Daniel and Clara became inseparable. Whether it was during lectures, lunch breaks, or study sessions, they were always side by side. Their bond had grown naturally, evolving from an unexpected connection to something more intimate and profound. They sat together every morning in the lecture hall, laughing and whispering to each other between notes, their presence together now a familiar sight for everyone.

Most of the university had accepted their closeness without question. The rumors and whispers that once followed them, especially after the Jacob incident, had died down. People knew better than to interfere. Daniel's temper and Clara's fiery independence left little room for meddling. And so, life at the university went on.

Their relationship blossomed as the weeks turned into months. It wasn't official in words, but it was understood. They walked to and from the campus together, shared meals, and spent hours pouring over their coursework side by side. They balanced each other—Daniel's quiet, introspective nature complemented by Clara's sharp wit and boundless energy. Together, they were happy, truly content, and in their little world, everything seemed perfect.

For Daniel, this was the happiest he'd been in years. His life had transformed in a way he hadn't anticipated. The loneliness, the darkness that had once consumed him, seemed like a distant memory. With Clara by his side, it was as if a light had been switched on in his life, and he found himself smiling more often than not. His grades were stellar, his work ethic strong, and with Clara's support, he felt invincible.

Clara felt the same. Though her life had always been filled with people, Daniel was different. He grounded her in ways she didn't expect, and she found solace in their quiet moments together. It wasn't just a whirlwind romance but a genuine connection built on trust, understanding, and mutual respect. They pushed each other to do better, to be better, in both their academic and personal lives.

Everything seemed to be leading toward a happy ending for the two of them. Their friends saw it, their professors saw it, and even Mark, ever the skeptic, was convinced that this was it. "You two are the real deal," he'd say with a grin, watching them joke and study together.

But life, as Daniel and Clara would soon find out, doesn't always follow the script of a fairytale. There were things brewing beneath the surface, things that neither of them could see coming. Despite their happiness, despite how perfect things seemed, the universe had other plans.

A few months into their relationship, during the final year of university, the inevitable shift came. One random afternoon, as Daniel and Clara were enjoying lunch in their usual spot, Clara received a phone call that would change everything. Her face fell as she listened, her knuckles gripping the phone tightly. Daniel watched her, feeling the tension build.

When she hung up, her voice was quiet, almost a whisper, "It's my dad. He's sick."

Daniel's heart sank. "What happened?" he asked, trying to keep his voice steady, though worry was etched across his face.

Clara sighed, rubbing her temple. "He's been treating patients in a rural area. My mom said it's serious, and they need me to come back home. I... I have to leave."

The weight of her words hit him like a ton of bricks. "Leave? Like, go back? How long?"

She nodded, her brown eyes looking more distant than usual. "For as long as it takes. I don't know. I need to be with my family. My father... he's not doing well."

Daniel stared at her, the reality sinking in. "I'll come with you," he blurted out. The thought of being apart from her was unbearable.

Clara shook her head firmly. "No, Daniel. You can't. We're in the middle of our internship year, and you need to finish. I'll request a formal transfer for my internship to my hometown. I can work from there while I'm with my dad."
