beep! the sound of the pa box filled the classroom as i was finishing up with my test.

"could you please have eleanor grambs pack her bags and head to the office," the secretary said over the speakers.

"she's coming with a smile," my teacher-mrs miles- replied before collecting my newly finished test and unlocking the door to let me out.

i made my way down the hall raking my brain for anything i could've done to get myself a call to the office. they'd told me to bring my bags which was weird because no one i knew was old enough to sign me out of school.

my mom had died last year and she's been the only person who'd ever signed me out, mainly because she was the only person who could sign me out.

when i walked into the office i saw my principal who looked like he'd just won a million dollars. he had the biggest smile on his face and he almost bounced up when he saw me.

"eleanor, please follow me," he said a hint of excitement entering his voice at the end of the sentence.

he opened his office door to reveal my aunt. she immediately stood up and walked over to me, giving me a tight hug. i hadn't seen my aunt in 4 years she wouldn't be here unless....

"what happened to my dad?" i asked immediately after she pulled away from the hug.

"nothing. your father is fine," the voice that responded didn't sound like my aunts or the principals, so i looked past my aunt to find the chair behind my principals desk occupied.

a boy-who couldn't have been much older than me-sat there wearing an expensive looking suit, a suit that someone with an entourage would wear, "as of yesterday, your father, ricky grambs was alive, well and safely passed out in a motel room in michigan, just outside of detroit."

i stared at him-light hair, pale gray eyes, sharp features, and a very attractive face when putting all of that together.

"how could you know that?" i said, i hadn't known where my father was how could he?

he didn't reply instead he shooed away my principal.

"you asked how i know you father," he said his voice filling the room once again, "but i think it's best that you assume that i know everything."

"um, that is so creepy," i said giving him a weird look.

"then assume i am creepy," he replied.
