FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A LONG TIME, AURORA WAS EXCITED TO GO TO SCHOOL. Charlie had asked her why she had been all excited after school when she arrived at Billy's house. Aurora had just blushed and avoided the question like the plague, saying she may have made some new friends. That made her father happy, glad she was being more social, and he left the question alone. The brunette was thankful her father never pried or hovered.
However, he watched with an amused smirk as she double-checked her appearance twice in the bathroom mirror when he walked by to head downstairs. She had left the door open, claiming she was just brushing her cheek when instead she had redone her hair twice and ensured that her lip balm looked okay.
The only time he had ever seen his youngest daughter worry about her appearance was whenever she would spend time with Leah and Sam. He thought it was hilarious how his daughter had a crush on the boy, who was always kind to her.
But now fear crept into his mind when he realized Aurora was old enough to worry about boys and go on dates. It was enough to worry him. He wasn't ready for her to grow up, so when he watched her check her appearance for the third time, he could only shake his head to keep the tears at bay. His baby was growing up and it killed him inside.
Charlie knocked on the bathroom doorway, clearing his throat and whipping his eyes. Aurora jumped and turned to face her father, her cheeks glowing red and eyes wide, like a deer in headlights.
"You got a hot date I don't know about?" Charlie teased though he silently hoped it wasn't true.
"No-no." Even Aurora didn't believe her answer, causing her to fiddle with her fingers. "I just...wanted to look nice."
"Mhmm." Charlie wasn't convinced. "You sure you ain't got something you want to tell me?"
Aurora bit her lip and suddenly found the floor very interesting. She was debating on telling him, but she doubted anything would ever actually happen, so she figured why not.
