It was 2:34 in the morning when I heard Kehlani's voice, low but intense, as she argued with someone on the phone.
"Keh, what's going on? It's 2:35 in the morning," I groaned, still half asleep.
Kehlani glanced over, her tone softening. "I'm sorry for waking you, just go back to sleep for me, Liyah."
I nodded sleepily and went back to cuddling with Serenity and Adeya, letting her handle whatever was going on. Eventually, sleep took over again.
Hours later, I woke up to the smell of something delicious in the air. My stomach growled as I quickly got out of bed, leaving Serenity and Adeya still snuggled under the covers. I hurried downstairs and found Kehlani in the kitchen, dancing, singing, and cooking breakfast. It was like she could sense me there, because she turned around with a smile the moment I entered.
"Look who finally decided to wake up," she teased. "Oh, and after breakfast, the girls want to go to the park."
I smiled back, my earlier exhaustion melting away at the sight of her so full of energy. After a quick breakfast, I got up to wash the dishes. Once I was done, I grabbed Adeya out of her high chair and headed upstairs, with Serenity following close behind.
They both got undressed with my help, and soon enough, it was bath time. The girls giggled and splashed around, making the bathroom feel like a mini water park. Once they were all clean, I dried them off and led them back to their room, where matching outfits for the day were laid out. Their excitement was contagious as they wiggled into the adorable clothes, ready for another day of fun.

With the hairstyles and all
Once we arrived at the park, Serenity and Adeya ran off toward the playground, eager to play. I watched them with a smile as they blended in with the other kids. Kehlani and I found a bench nearby and sat down, the sound of laughter filling the air around us.
Kehlani leaned back, her gaze lingering on me for a moment before she spoke. "You know, I wasn't sure how this would all go with you moving in, but I gotta say, I'm glad you're here," she said, her voice soft yet confident.
I shifted a little in my seat, sensing the direction of her words. "Thanks, I guess. It's still kinda weird, though," I admitted, keeping my guard up. I wasn't about to let her charm her way past that. Not yet, anyway.
