"You look so handsome, Dip!" Mabel squeeled while Dipper looked at his reflection in the men's clothing store mirror. The suit he was wearing was a normal black suit with a white undershirt and black bowtie, but something about it really suited him. The suit fit him, albeit not perfectly, but luckily for him, Pacifica had money. And having money means she can afford to have the store's tailor measure Dipper and get the suit he (or rather Pacifica and Mabel) picked out ready. "She's not wrong. You look really good in that suit.", Pacifica gushed and flushed pink, well-aware of how she sounded. Dipper turned crimson from the direct compliment he got from the rich blonde. "Okay, go get get changed back into your clothes and I'll take this over to the tailor. When you're done, come find me.", Pacifica ordered as she walked off. Dipper watched her saunter away, but out of the corner of his eye, he could see Mabel beaming at him. "Don't. Do not. I don't want to hear it.", Dipper was not interested in whatever romance talk Mabel was going to start up. Unfortunately, that did nothing to deter her. "She likes you! You like her! Tell her!" "Mabel, no. I got lucky when Wendy was cool about when I had a crush on her. I don't know if Pacifica will be that forgiving. I know she's changed a lot, but I don't want her to think I've been her friend just because I like her." Mabel rolled her eyes at Dipper's stressful rant. "Look, bro. I can tell she likes you. You've liked eachother since we were 13. Stop being a weinee and tell her at the gala." Dipper rolled his eyes in frustration. "Hey, I'm not being a weinee. I'm just... what if I mess it up? Look, Mabel, just drop it. Please?" Mabel looked at her brother empathetically. "Okay, okay. You better do something about it this summer, though. She's literally the prettiest girl either of us has ever met. Chances are someone is waiting to pounce and then you'll never get your chance." As much as he hated to admit it, Dipper knew his sister was right. He nodded silently and headed towards the dressing room.

"See? That wasn't so bad. Now all you have to do is not die in the meantime and the party will come and go and you'll be back to doing your geek studies in no time! Well, considering it's you, maybe just stay inside. You kinda throw yourself at danger.", Pacifca ribbed Dipper. She wasn't wrong. How Dipper (and by extension, Mabel) hasn't ended up in the Gravity Falls Hospital in all their years of coming to the town was beyond them. "Thank you, Pacifica. That really helps my already-not-wanting-to-be-there.", Dipper said deadpan. "You're welcome.", chirped Pacifica, well-aware she wasn't being helpful at all. Mabel was giggling all the while. They had arrived back at Pacifica's house and Pacifica had Mabel come to her room to see the dress she had picked out for the gala. Dipper wasn't allowed to follow because Pacifica wanted her dress to be a surprise, so he was stuck waiting in the living room when he heard a familiar voice clear it's throat. Preston Northwest stood in the doorway to the Northwest's new home's parlor. "What are you doing here?", Preston grumbled. "Your daughter roped me into being her date for your gala on Saturday. I'm just waiting to collect my sister and go home.", Dipper replied, clearly irritated by the mere presence of Pacifica's slimeball of a father. "She would choose the likes of you." Dipper ignored him. Mabel and Pacifica came walking down the stairs and Dipper took it as his cue to stand up. "Alright, you should be all set for Saturday. Remember; I want you there by 6 PM.", Pacifica reminded him. "Yes ma'am.", Dipper said in a half-joking, half-serious manner. Pacifica blushed and turned away from him to hide it, only to be met with the scowling visage of her father. "Oh, hey dad.", she said, clearly uninterested in whatever slight he was going to take at Dipper and Mabel. "See you guys later!", Pacifica called from halfway up the stairs, yet still facing the twins and waving at them. They waved back as they stepped towards and out the door.

"Man, Pacifica's dad is a jerk.", Mabel huffed, upset with the retelling Dipper had provided her with. "Eh, don't worry about him. He's just mad he's losing his grip on the control he has over everything." Dipper looked over at the suit hanging up in it's bag in their closet. "Maybe Saturday won't be so bad after all. I mean, I get to spend it with her.", he said more to himself than to Mabel. "You'll be fine, bro-bro. If you're lucky, you might get a smooch out of it.", Mabel giggled half-seriously, yet also half-teasingly. Dipper rolled his eyes. "Goodnight, Stupid." "Goodnight, Stupid."
