AXEL

It was early in the morning and Axel was yawning as he gripped the cool door handle in front of him. He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and scrunched up his tardy pass before he finally stepped into the bright classroom. From the sound of it; his teacher had already begun taking attendance.

"Maria Cortez?-" Was the name his new teacher had stopped on before he got interrupted by the student in his door way. The teacher shuffled the paper in his hand and glanced behind him to get a proper look.

He nodded before speaking again. "Come in, hand me your pass, and take a seat." The man said briskly as he pushed his glasses back up his long nose. Without another word, Axel slid the crumpled green paper onto the teacher's desk, and trodded over to an empty seat in the back.

The teacher was continuing to take roll as he slumped down into his seat looking around the lively classroom. After a few uncomfortable moments, he could feel eyes on him. He glanced to his side, only for his gaze to be met with light brown ones.

The guy seated next to me had a messy top of copper hair that fell over his eyebrows. He glanced up from his phone with an odd look on his face as he regarded Axel with a mixture of curiosity and confusion.

For a moment, the air between them felt charged as they both assessed each other's intentions. Axel couldn't help but grimace raising an eyebrow in annoyance.

"... You got something you wanna say to me?" He blinked only for the redhead to squint and type something on his phone. Then he looked up again.

"Yeah. I was kinda saving that seat for someone so... Could you sit somewhere else?" He gestured to the front of the class with the hand currently holding his phone and then glanced back at Axel. Axel almost didn't say anything back before he started smirking, clearly amused.

It's literally the first day of school?

"What- here?" He asked him back pointing down to his desk as if he didn't understand, and the redhead nodded sarcastically getting a little agitated.

"Well you should've said something earlier 'cause I'm already back here and I'm not moving." Axel grinned before he rolled his eyes and slumped back into his seat, crossing his arms over his torso and shutting his eyes. He was done with the whole conversation.

From the silence on the other end, he knew that was the end of it.

DAVID

David furrowed his eyebrows and held his phone idly in disbelief as he watched the brunette beside him fold into his seat and go to sleep, completely ignoring what he said. Clearly annoyed, he swiped his phone open again to start texting his friend about his situation.

📱david:
yo, some rando just took the seat i was saving for yuo
*you
was hella rude about it too.

mason is typing...

📱mason: really? anyway it doesn't matter, i won't get there 'till like, third :/

"Nooo..." David groaned at his phone and shut it off slumping into his chair as well. He set his head down onto the desk for a few seconds and then glanced over to the side to see the same brunette sitting in the same seat he was saving, fast asleep.

He was seriously brown-skinned, and his hair was longer than David's, even though it was straightened and stuffed under neath a black beanie. He was resting his head against the classroom wall with his mouth slightly ajar without a care in the world, licking his upper lip from time to time.

Already feeling irritation seeping in again from just staring at his face for a bit, he turned back around and chose to stare out of the window again until the bell rung.

Weirdo.

AXEL

My stomach was practically boiling as I made my way out of the lunch line and over to a random table. They were serving what looked like chicken tenders and waffles for the first day of school, and having not eaten breakfast the thought of digging in made Axel very impatient.

As he was looking up to open his milk carton, he found his eyes meeting with two light brown ones again except this time, instead of being glued to his phone, they were glaring at him. 'The red haired guy from my first period?' He thought as he raised an eyebrow towards the pair of eyes drilling into him. When he got no reaction, he decided to pay him no mind and bite into a chicken tender before he heard a voice speak up.

"Are you gay or something, why do you keep sitting next to me?" The redhead had grimaced while he pointed an accusatory finger towards Axel.

Axel could feel his face heat up a bit as his eyes bulged at the accusation and he started coughing, nearly choking on his food. He grabbed his milk carton and took a long chug before he slammed it back on the table and glared back up at his offender.

"What the fuck are you talking about? If you would literally just open your eyes and look around you, you would see that most of the seats were taken dumbass." Axel checked as he pointed to all the full tables behind him to prove his point. He shook his head and then brought his food up to his lips again.

"I'm gonna eat my lunch now, so you mind your business and don't talk to me." He spat as he looked down and ate his food, clearly not in the mood to argue. He could tell the redhead was going to snap back when suddenly he saw him smiling at something from his peripheral.

"Yo, David! What's up?" Said a voice from behind him and Axel decided to pay it no mind, continuing to finish up his tray. "Mason! Finally, it took you long enough!" The redhead spoke back which finally grabbed Axel's attention again.

I guess his name is David then, huh.

He decided to go on his phone instead of listening to whatever this 'David' and his friend were going to talk about. He was finishing up a sparring match with the in-game characters on his phone when he heard something that caught his attention again.

"Anyway, who's this, a new friend?" He heard the guy named Mason ask.

"Hell nah, he's just some weirdo that keeps following me around. I think he's gay or something." He snickers and juts his chin toward Axel. Axel immediately snaps up, shoving off of his seat and leaning forward practically fuming.

"You? Shut the fuck up. We just happened to have one or two classes together, and now you think the world revolves around you." Axel muttered, and then took a deep breath to try and keep his temper in check.

"Y'know what, I'm done, honestly." He added finally, grabbing his backpack and pushing himself away from the lunch table and walking away. David only blinked before he smiled and pointed a thumb towards Axel and then he rolled his eyes.

"Bye! ...Dick." He called out behind him, before turning to his friend Mason. Mason only looked back at him with a confused stare on his face and his mouth hanging open.

"Dude, what happened between you guys?" He asked finally shutting his mouth and blinking between the two. David looked at the brunette, who was heading outside, shrugged, and tapped at his phone again. "Honestly not even anything serious, he's just a sensitive little bitch." He scoffed and kicked one leg onto his seat, feeling irritated. Mason simply shrugged and took a bite of his sandwich.
