Chapter 3 (Life is full of...surprises?)

Morty's POV
     Before I start, I'm Mordecai Sandrino, a.k.a. Morty, at isa ako sa mga scholar ng ELYU o La Union. May times na pumasok sa isip ko na 'Pa'no ako nagka-scholarship, e 2nd honorable mention grinaduate ko?' The truth is, I never excel in any school activities, except basketball. But there's one person I know who's an over-achiever—Avyanna Trish Samson, my childhood bestfriend.

Ewan ko ba, may something sa kanya na hinahangaan ko, not just her looks and everything. She's one of the girls who never failed in all aspects in her life. Basta ang akin lang, she's a unique person with a lot (I mean, A LOT!) of talents.

    Enough of her, it's time for me to shine! Kidding😜✌!!

So, today is our orientation for all senior high students here in Saint Maximilian Kolbe University or SMKU. At isa ako sa mga binigyan ng sports scholarship from out ELYU mayor (shoutout po sa'yo!). Pero hindi lang yun, I was given a chance to practice with some of the best players in this university. 'Di ba, mind-blowing?! Baka dun din ko makikita si Vyn mamaya. Hayss, sure ako same strand o track kami. If not, e di tanggapin ko na lang ang katotohanan.

   I'm with my friend Grayson Paine Montecalvo, isang rich dude na nakilala ko sa enrollment 2 months ago. Nung tinanong ko tungkol sa family background nya, nalaman ko na anak sya ng isang CEO ng sikat na land development company sa Pilipinas. I was like, "E di ikaw na!"
   Gray was an awesome guy, except for his mysterious looks, though. Nainggit ako sa kanya dahil SOBRANG HOT AT POGI NYA. Minsan pa nga, pinagkamalan nila akong bakla. Pero sa totoo lang, FAKE NEWS yun. (I'm straight, if y'all know what I mean.)

Habang naglalakad kami papuntang auditorium, nakita ko si Vyn na papasok sa loob ng gate. Hindi ko sya pinuntahan kasi nahihiya akong lumapit.
Simula nung lumipat ako ng Maynila, akala ko kinalimutan nya na ako. Boy was I wrong. Everytime I stare at her photos on my phone, kinikilig ako bigla. 'Hoy Morty, akala ko na hanggang friends lang kayo? Don't tell me...crush mo pa rin sya hanggang ngayon?' bulong ko.
   Bigla nagsalita si Gray. "So, you and that Avyanna were friends before?"
   "Yeah, we were. Why'd you asked?"
   "I saw her earlier talking to a girl with ginger hair."
   I didn't answer. Andito na sya? Ngayon...sa SMKU?
   "W–wait, you're still in love with her?"
   ”N-no.
   "Oh, c'mon! Aminin mo na, bro."
   Napakamot ako. "Ang alin? Na may gusto ako sa kanya? Bro, that's impossible. Besides, she only treat me as a brother, that's it."
   He smirked. "Sure ka ba? What if I asked Vyn about your true feelings for her?"
      "Dude, no. I'm begging you!"
      "Jk, Morty! I know you guys are still friends. And hopefully, alam mo na."
      "Thanks, bro. I'll keep that in mind."
     He patted my shoulder. "No problem. If you have any girl problems, chat mo na lang ako."
     I nodded. "Tara na, hinihintay na tayo."
