"Are you done groping my boyfriend yet?"
Kluen and I turned to the source of the voice. Phum was standing there, looking fierce like he had just eaten a nest of wasps. Once I regained my composure, I instinctively stepped back from Kluen's grip. Kluen furrowed his brow, stopped staring at Phum, and looked at me instead.
His once bright eyes now held a mix of sadness and confusion, making me feel guilty even though I didn't know why. With my unmatched intelligence, I figured I should introduce them to ease the tension.
"Uh, Phum, this is Kluen, my friend. Kluen, this is Phum, he's..."
"His boyfriend." Phum's voice was ice cold.
"I didn't ask." Kluen shot back, even colder.
"But I have the right to answer." Phum replied as he stepped closer, standing just a step away from Kluen.
Kluen didn't back down, but I was the one who took a step back, confused about why these two were creating such a tense atmosphere.
"Phum... I mean..."
"Shut up, Pheem."
I fell silent immediately. What's with the shouting?
"Hey, why do you have to yell? We can talk calmly."
"Stay out of it. Pheem and I need to talk." Phum pushed Kluen's chest, making him stumble into me.
I lost my balance and fell awkwardly, my butt hitting the tiles with a painful thud.
"Pheem!!!"
Great, now where do I put my hands? I looked at Phum's hand and Kluen's hand right in front of me. The two turned to glare at each other again. The atmosphere was so tense it felt eerie. I figured I'd just stand on my own two feet.
But with Kluen's speed, he pulled my arm before I could react. In the next moment, Phum yanked my arm away from Kluen, pulling me in the other direction. Now I was in pain on both ends. What is wrong with you two?
"Uh, how about we go outside? It stinks here." I said, quickly covering my mouth as both of their fierce gazes turned to me.
Goosebumps crawled up my arms. I guess silence is better.
"I hope this isn't going to happen a third time, with you being too close to my boyfriend again." Phum said.
Huh? A third time? Does that mean Phum has seen me with Kluen before? When? No wonder he seemed so angry.
I looked at Kluen, but I wasn't sure what kind of look I had. He looked at me like he was hurt. Phum didn't let me ponder Kluen's sad gaze for long, yanking my hand out of the bathroom. But with my other hand—
"Pheem." Kluen grabbed it.
"Let go." Phum said through gritted teeth, his jaw and temples twitching even as he turned his back on Kluen.
And me? Agh! Phum was squeezing my wrist. Damn, that hurt!
"Pheem."
"Let go—of—my—boyfriend." This time, Phum turned back to face Kluen.
Kluen slowly released his grip on me, and what I never expected suddenly slapped me across the face.
"Pheem... I like you."
Before I could blink or say anything, Phum's fist flew out and hit Kluen's face, who quickly retaliated. Everything happened so fast, so fast that I unknowingly held my breath.
I'm not some dumb character from a melodrama who can't see how someone feels about me. I knew Kluen had feelings for me that went beyond friendship. But hearing it clearly with my own ears?
