joao held a bucket of paint in one hand and a packet of paintbrushes in the other, his jaw dropping as he stared the raggedy, old house.
it looked at least seven hundred years old.
"did it age sixty years, get inhabited, then get abandoned again and then age another hundred years all in the span of the last time we saw it?" hugo asked, his eyes wide as saucers.
"yeah, no, i don't think this shit hole can be saved," gavi said, a serious tone evident in his voice. his arm was wrapped around his girlfriend's shoulder as he dropped the basket full of drift wood onto the sand.
scarlett rolled her eyes as she picked up a hammer and some nails, walking towards the porch of the abandoned house.
tara raised an eyebrow at her, "careful, scar." she said in her scouse accent.
scarlett nodded, her other hand now on the wooden railing of the stairs leading up to the porch.
"you could get a splinter," hector spoke up.
"shut up for a second, let the girl do her thing," his sister sneered.
the fort boy huffed, turning to marie, "am i not allowed to care?"
"no, now shut the fuck up," the blonde sneered once more.
scarlett gripped the banister, gently putting one foot over a stair to see if it could hold.
"is it sturdy?" jayla questioned as she leaned into pablo.
"yeah, it is!" scarlett grinned before running up the stairs to the porch.
joao stayed quiet, although his jaw was clenched like he had something to say.
jayla raised an eyebrow at him, "speak your truth, joao." she said as she nodded at the brunette barca boy.
he huffed, ignoring her before walking up the steps with gentle movements not to break the stairs in case they were termite-infested or something.
joao wrapped his hand around scarlett's wrist and dragged her back down to the sand, she winced, trying to push him away but couldn't as she still held the hammer and nails in her hands.
reluctantly, she dropped the hammer, still holding the nails in her other hand. the hammer went right through the wood, breaking it.
"see. i told you, unsafe." the brunette barca boy said matter-of-factly as he continued to pull her down to the sand.
scarlett rolled her eyes as they got to the sand, "asshole.." she murmured under her breath.

scarlett and jayla walked into the nearby gas station on the hunt for some soda while joao, pablo, hector and trent had gone to find some more wood and more supplies at the hardware store — and tara, hugo and marie were on design duty.
jayla walked up to the register and began speaking to the cashier, "hiya. do you guys have any blue dog soda?" she asked with a calm smile.
the blonde guy's head shot up, "shit—hey jayla."
"zeeke, what the fuck?" she huffed, her eyes widening. it was her brother. "why.. just why are you here?"
zeeke blinked, "i needed money .. duh."
scarlett popped up, chiming into the conversation as she held three large cases of blue dog soda, "hey, i found the—" began before shutting herself up when she noticed the tension built up.
"what's going on..?" she questioned, her head tilting in curiosity as she set the cases of soda onto the counter.
the woods girl huffed, "zeeke meet scar, scar meet zeeke ... my drug-addict brother."
zeeke raised an eyebrow, "you the girl hangin' around with those lazy ass ball kickers?" he asked scarlett as he lit up a blunt
"you mean footballers..?"
