Nandini"Alya's makeup artist wants to start with her in two hours."
"Yup."
"Which is 3 pm."
"Yup."
"Now it's one pm."
"Right on."
"And they're not waking up."
"Yu-up."
Mukti and I looked back and forth between each other and these two dumbasses snoring like pigs six hours before their own wedding. I pinched my nose, sighing.
When did Alya start snoring like that?
"We've tried-" one of Dhruv's cousins murmured, "Like- sprinkled water and stuff. He woke up for two minutes, blabbered some rubbish and went back to sleep. That was three hours ago."
The entire room was full of restless people who've been trying to wake them up all morning. Mukti looked like she was about to cry, Cabir and Abhimanyu both were too busy trying to keep themselves straight. Navya had just woke up herself twenty minutes ago- now desperately blinking to keep herself awake. Another corner of the room was full of Dhruv's cousins and friends, discussing amongst themselves.
Manik Malhotra, standing right behind me, was stifling a laugh, endlessly snorting.
"Don't you dare," Mukti growled at him, while I shot him the deathliest look I could muster, "It's not funny, Manik."
He shrugged, "Y'all are gonna laugh about it in two months. I'm just a little faster on schedule."
"I mean-" I sighed, knowing very well what I was about to say was pointless, "None of you thought it might be wise to keep the booze a little away from the bride and groom? Did anyone even bother to notice if Dhruv was careful with his legs? Oh God-"
"Um, don't worry about that," Dhruv's younger brother cleared his throat, guilt lurking in his face, "I made sure he was um- mostly sitting-"
"Yeah. At the bar." Cabir started to chuckle, which ended up being a groan of pain rightfully inflicted by Mukti.
"Hey, I know the best hangover cocktail ever existing in human race," Manik joined his hands, "I've had enough practice with Ms. Other Vardhan here to last a lifetime. They need to wake up for that to work though."
"Should we try screaming directly in their ears together?" Navya hazily suggested, yawning, "I mean-"
"Nope. No more screaming, no more sprinkling," I announced, "They need shock therapy. Cabir and Abhi, go and bring me both hot and cold water, two jars each. Manik, go make the best hangover cocktail you've ever made in your life."
"Aye aye captain," Abhi gave me a salute, and three of them disappeared from the room. I sent two of Dhruv's sober cousins as well, concerned if Manik was enough to keep the other two at bay.
"Goodness," I then turned back at Mukti and Navya. The only reason Mukti was in a relatively better condition than them was because of the practice Manik was talking about, I could tell, "How much did you all drink last night? When did you even go to sleep?"
"Considering I was the last one to leave the hall room after they switched the lights off, I'd say five, maybe?" Mukti groaned in guilt and frustration, "Damn it- I even once thought of telling the bartender to put orange juice in Alya's shot glasses but then-"
"Yeah, yeah," I rolled my eyes, "I got the rest. It's fine."
"Hey, you're one to talk!" Navya's voice picked a sudden raise of awakening, "We were drunk- guilty. We all passed out- guilty. We are late- guilty as charged. But where the hell were you?"
