"Nuer! Hey, Nuer, let's go home together!"
The tall, serious-faced, handsome boy turned around to find his cute, happy pill of a stalker hurrying towards him. Though his facial expressions remained unchanged, he stopped and waited for the other guy to catch up.
It wasn't exactly right to call Syn a stalker since they lived in the same neighborhood and took the same route and bus to and from school. And he didn't exactly call Syn a stalker, he did call him his stalker but he only did that in his head. To him, Syn was his sweet little stalker and it was a fact that made him weirdly happy.
They were so different, stark contrast to each other, like day and the night or Ying and the yang. He was quiet and reclusive, always serious and unhappy, a huge introvert. And though Syn was quite a hyperactive, over-friendly, talkative, and extroverted guy, a stark opposite of himself, they were still classmates and even happened to end up having the same friend group. How that miracle happened was beyond him as all he knew was that he moved to the city two years ago to live with his uncle and study at the high school Uncle Forth's friend Chet taught at.
It was a prestigious school in Bangkok, the only reason his overbearing and demanding mother let him leave home. That and her great work opportunity in London where she couldn't take the burden of a son along for a whole year and also because she couldn't trust the said son enough to leave him home all alone. Leaving him with his father wasn't an option either. So all that was left was to send him to her brother all the way to Thailand.
And then that one year turned into two and he was hopeful he'd get to go to university and eventually live here in Bangkok for good.
In the first year of his life at the school, he only made two friends, Kim from the football team and King from his class. And even among them, King was already sort of a family friend and they knew each other since they were ten.
Kim was rather aggressive, rebellious, and quiet most of the times, almost like him, while King was rowdy and idiotic. Uncle Forth thought they complimented him well.
He was the top of the class and the top student for his year while King often came second, the times he wasn't wasting playing and fooling around. In football too, he gave Kim a run for his money but between studies and his natural talent, he often prioritized his education as he was expected to be nothing beyond perfect.
He had to be perfect.
And then came the mid-term results and he found out he was weak in Thai and maths. By weak, it meant someone surpassed him in both. He wasn't exactly a math genius and he was brought up most of his life in States. Uncle Chet thought it was perfectly reasonable. He was still at the top of his class. Yet he knew it wasn't. And soon, Uncle Chet did too.
Moving continents wasn't far enough out of his mother's grasp. She was still dominating his life and taking her delusional revenge against his father who left her by making his life miserable.
And so Uncle Chet called for the services of the boy who came on top in both subjects.
Syn.
The cute, adorable, happy pill, talking machine, Syn from class B.
Uncle Chet designed a plan for the two boys to help each other with Syn tutoring him in Thai and maths while he tutored Syn for sciences.
Syn was an anomaly, a rarity that befell him, a catastrophe he wasn't ready for, and soon his life was filled with Syn. He was everywhere. And he was always happily greeting him. He was always ready to come help him when they met in corridors and talk away about his whole day in those few moments. He was happily skipping towards him and his friends whenever he spotted them at lunch. He was even greeting him during PE, waving and cheering him on, even offering him water and towels. He was even in his bus, on this route and walking home with him as they lived in the same neighborhood.
