She could hear the bells ringing in her ears—her death bells.

But to any other ordinary person, they were wedding bells.

The sound of those bells grew louder and louder, pounding at the back of her head, until it became unbearable, forcing her to let out a scream.

Clank...clank...clank.

Y/n peeled her eyes open at the sound of metal hitting the floor and saw her mom standing by the window, a glare fixed in her eyes.

"Stupid bitch, why are you screaming?" her mom snarled, breaking her trance.

So it wasn't her wedding day yet...

Suddenly, the phone on the nightstand rang, and her mom rushed to answer it.

"H-Hello?"

"How's my darling doing, Mrs. Jang? Is she asleep already?" a hoarse voice came from the other end.

"Yes, sir. Yes, she's asleep," she lied.

"Oh good, then your head's safe for now. Tell my darling to eat well and be ready for the car I send tomorrow."

"Yes, sir."

Her mother hung up and turned toward Y/n, who shrank into the blankets, only her teary eyes visible.

"Go to sleep," her mom said harshly before closing the door behind her.

Tomorrow, she would be married. Whether it would change anything or make things worse—who could say?

"To escape one hell, you have to enter another," Y/n muttered to herself, curling deeper into the sheets, trying to savor her last night of peace.
