Y/n was casually walking through the school grounds, enjoying the afternoon sun, when a random trainer approached him. The trainer had that usual gleam of excitement in their eyes, holding a Poké Ball in hand, clearly eager for a challenge.
Trainer: "Hey, Y/n! How about a quick battle?"
Y/n smiled, opening his mouth to respond, ready to accept the challenge. But before he could say a word, a familiar whirlwind swept in from the side.
In a blur, Nemona appeared out of nowhere, locking Y/n in a tight embrace. Her arms wrapped possessively around his waist, and she pressed herself against him, her cheek rubbing affectionately against his shoulder. Y/n's eyes widened in surprise—he hadn't even heard her coming.
Nemona: "Only I can battle Y/n."
Her voice was sweet, but her eyes told a different story. They darkened as she giggled softly, sending an ominous chill through the air. She tightened her grip around Y/n, who awkwardly patted her arm in a half-hearted attempt to free himself.
Y/n: "Uh, Nemona—"
But Nemona didn't let up, her giggles growing a little more unhinged as she continued rubbing her cheek against him.
Nemona: "No one else. Just me."
The random trainer blinked, clearly caught off guard by the sudden appearance and Nemona's unsettling aura. They nervously took a step back, unsure of how to handle the situation.
Trainer: "Uh... maybe another time then?"
Y/n let out a strained laugh, trying to break the tension.
Y/n: "Yeah... uh, sorry about that. I think my battle schedule's fully booked for now."
Nemona giggled again, her eyes still dark as she clung tightly to Y/n.
Nemona: "Forever booked. Right, Y/n?"
Y/n gave a resigned smile, knowing he wasn't getting out of this one.
Y/n: "Yeah... forever."
As the trainer awkwardly walked away, Y/n sighed internally.
Y/n: "Well, there goes my free afternoon."
-Battles!!!-
It was a bright, sunny day in the Paldea region, and the local school was hosting a small Pokémon tournament for kids. Young trainers were eager to show off their newly caught partners, excited to battle and prove their strength. Among the crowd of trainers was a young Nemona, her eyes gleaming with excitement. She couldn't wait to test her skills and prove she was the best.
Nemona had always loved battling. Ever since she got her first Pokémon, she had been obsessed with the thrill of victory. But this time, she wasn't facing just anyone. She was up against Y/n, a kid around her age who had a reputation for being a solid battler. Nemona, however, was confident—she was going to win. She had to win.
As they stood across from each other on the battlefield, Nemona was brimming with energy, bouncing on her heels. Y/n, on the other hand, was calm, focused, and ready for the challenge.
Nemona: "You ready for this, Y/n? I've been waiting all week for this battle!"
Y/n smirked, gripping his Poké Ball tightly.
Y/n: "Ready when you are, Nemona. Let's make it a good one."
With that, they both threw their Poké Balls into the air, releasing their Pokémon. Nemona sent out her trusty first partner, Fuecoco, while Y/n called forth his starter, Sprigatito. The two Pokémon stood across from each other, both ready for battle.
Nemona's enthusiasm was infectious as she shouted commands to Fuecoco, urging it forward with fiery determination.
Nemona: "Fuecoco, use Ember!"
Fuecoco let out a burst of flames, but Y/n was quick to respond.
Y/n: "Sprigatito, dodge and use Leafage!"
Sprigatito gracefully leapt out of the way and retaliated with a flurry of leaves, striking Fuecoco head-on. Nemona's confidence wavered for a second, but she quickly shook it off.
Nemona: "We've got this, Fuecoco! Let's go all out!"
The battle raged on, both trainers giving it their all, but in the end, Y/n's calm and strategic approach won out. Sprigatito landed a decisive hit, and Fuecoco, exhausted from the fight, collapsed in defeat.
The referee called it.
Referee: "Y/n wins!"
Y/n grinned, walking over to congratulate Nemona.
Y/n: "Good battle. You're tough, Nemona!"
But Nemona, instead of feeling bitter about her loss, stood frozen. Her eyes were wide, and her heart raced—not from the loss, but from something else. She looked at Y/n, who was smiling at her, and something shifted inside her. Her heart skipped a beat, and a strange new feeling washed over her—admiration, but something stronger, something deeper.
Nemona: "Y-you were amazing..."
Her voice was quiet, unlike her usual boisterous self. Y/n blinked, a little taken aback by her sudden change in tone.
Y/n: "Uh, thanks? You did great too."
Nemona stared at him for a moment, her mind spinning. For the first time, someone had beaten her in a battle, and it wasn't just anyone. It was Y/n. He was special. He was the one. Her heart raced faster, and a giddy excitement bubbled up inside her. She knew from that moment on—she had to keep battling Y/n. She had to get stronger to match him, to beat him... to stay by his side.
Nemona: "I need him."
She grinned, but it wasn't the usual excited grin of a regular battle. No, this was different. It was intense, determined... and a little unhinged.
Nemona: "Y/n, I'll battle you again. And again. And again! Until I win, and even then... I'll keep battling you forever!"
Y/n chuckled, not picking up on the sudden shift in her tone.
Y/n: "Sounds like a plan! I'll be ready whenever you are."
But Nemona wasn't listening anymore. She was lost in her own thoughts, imagining all the future battles they would have, all the time they would spend together. He was hers now—her rival, her partner, her everything.
Nemona: "He's mine. Mine, mine, mine."
From that day on, Nemona's obsession with Y/n only grew. Every battle, every moment spent with him made her more determined to stay by his side, and she wasn't going to let anyone else take him away from her. What started as admiration for his battle skills had blossomed into something far more intense—and Y/n, completely oblivious to it, had no idea what was coming.
