Y/n sat on one of the benches in Mesagoza, enjoying the cool breeze as he watched people pass by. Carmine had recently transferred to the academy after their time in Kitakami, and the two had gotten closer since then. He was catching up with her now, talking about their classes and the differences between Paldea and Kitakami. Carmine, ever the confident type, had no issue striking up conversation after conversation with Y/n. She even leaned in a little closer as she shared a story about her brother, Kieran, and how he was adjusting to things back home.

Carmine: "So, yeah, Kieran's fine. He's attending Blueberry Academy, from the letter he sent it's clear he is thriving.

Y/n smiled, genuinely enjoying the chat.

Y/n: "That sounds great. I'd love to see him."

But just as Carmine was about to continue, a familiar, excitable voice rang out across the courtyard.

Nemona: "Y/N!!!"

Y/n didn't even have time to react before Nemona came barreling toward him, tackling him off the bench with her usual enthusiasm.

Y/n: "Gah—! Nemona!"

Nemona's arms wrapped tightly around him, her cheek pressing into his back as she giggled.

Nemona: "I knew I'd find you here! You've been hanging out with Carmine a lot lately, haven't you?"

Y/n: 'Uh-oh.'

Nemona's tone was cheerful enough, but Y/n could feel the possessiveness radiating off her in waves. Carmine raised an eyebrow at the sight, clearly unfazed by Nemona's over-the-top behavior.

Carmine: "Wow, you really are attached at the hip, huh?"

Nemona didn't let go of Y/n, still squeezing him with a bright smile that didn't quite reach her eyes.

Nemona: "Oh, we're more than attached! Y/n and I are practically inseparable. Isn't that right, Y/n?"

Y/n sighed, knowing where this was going.

Y/n: "Nemona, can you—"

Nemona interrupted, standing up and placing herself firmly between Y/n and Carmine. She crossed her arms and shot a glare at Carmine, though her voice remained deceptively light.

Nemona: "So, Carmine, you've been hanging around Y/n a lot lately. Don't you have your own friends to hang out with?"

Carmine smirked, clearly not intimidated.

Carmine: "I think Y/n can decide who he wants to hang out with, Nemona. Last time I checked, you weren't his keeper."

Nemona's eye twitched slightly, but she kept up her sweet act.

Nemona: "Oh, but Y/n and I are so close. We have this bond that goes beyond battling, don't we, Y/n?"

Y/n tried to intervene, but Nemona wasn't having it. She spun around and latched onto his arm, holding it tightly as if staking her claim.

Nemona: "He doesn't need anyone else but me."

Carmine rolled her eyes.

Carmine: "You really don't let up, do you? Y/n and I are just friends, relax."

Nemona's grip on Y/n's arm tightened, her cheerful facade cracking as her eyes darkened.

Nemona: "Friends? I think you've been spending a little too much time with him for just friends."

Carmine, clearly unfazed by the hostility, leaned back on the bench and smirked.

Carmine: "Oh, Nemona, you're not jealous, are you?"
