You had prepared for this your whole life. College—finally. The excitement of new beginnings, the promise of independence, and the thrill of endless possibilities filled your mind as you drifted in and out of sleep. But the serene morning was abruptly shattered by a familiar, booming voice.

"Y/N! Get up, you're going to be late!" Your mum's voice echoed through the house, cutting through the remnants of your dreams.

You groaned and pulled the covers over your head, trying to block out the noise. But your mum was relentless. "I mean it, young lady! You can't afford to miss this!"

Footsteps pounded up the stairs, and within seconds, your bedroom door flew open. Your mum stood in the doorway, hands on her hips, her face a mix of frustration and concern. "Do you want to fail out of college? Because that's where you're headed if you don't get up right now!"

Peeking out from under the covers, your eyes barely open, you mumbled, "Five more minutes," but your mum was having none of it.

"No more minutes! Get up, get dressed, and get moving!" Her voice softened slightly, but the urgency remained. "I know it's tough, but you have to push through. Now, up!"

With a resigned sigh, you threw off the covers and swung your legs over the side of the bed. Your mum gave a satisfied nod before turning to leave. "Breakfast is on the table. Don't dawdle."

As the door closed behind her, you rubbed your eyes and stretched, the remnants of sleep slowly fading away. Another day, another battle with the alarm clock—and your mum.

You shuffled to the bathroom, splashing cold water on your face to wake up. The reflection staring back at you in the mirror looked as tired as you felt, but there was a spark of determination in your eyes. Today was the start of something new.

After quickly getting dressed, you headed downstairs. The smell of toast and eggs greeted you, and you found your mum bustling around the kitchen. "Eat up," she said, placing a plate in front of you. "You need your energy.". You nodded, taking a bite of the toast. Your mind wandered to the day ahead—new classes, new faces, and the chance to finally study what you were passionate about. It was both exhilarating and terrifying.

"Remember, first impressions matter," your mum said, breaking into your thoughts. "Be yourself, but also be confident. You've got this."

You smiled, appreciating her words of encouragement. "Thanks, Mum."

With breakfast finished, you grabbed your bag and headed for the door. The crisp morning air hit your face as you stepped outside, and you took a deep breath. This was it. The beginning of your college journey. As you walked towards the bus stop, you spotted your friends Sarah and Mark already waiting. Sarah, with her bright smile and infectious energy, waved enthusiastically. Mark, ever the calm and collected one, gave you a nod.

"Morning, Y/N!" Sarah chirped as you approached. "Ready for our first day?"

"Ready as I'll ever be," you replied with a grin.

The campus bus arrived, and the three of you climbed aboard, finding seats together near the back. The bus was filled with the chatter of other students, all buzzing with the same mix of excitement and nerves.

"So, who do you think you'll get for your classes?" Mark asked, leaning back in his seat.

"I heard Mr. Sumner is amazing," Sarah said, her eyes lighting up. "He's supposed to be really engaging and, well, kind of cute."

You felt a blush creep up your cheeks at the mention of Mr. Sumner. "Yeah, I've heard good things about him too. I hope I get him for at least one class."

Mark chuckled. "Just don't get too distracted, Y/N. We're here to learn, remember?"

You rolled your eyes playfully. "I know, I know. But it doesn't hurt to have a little eye candy, right?"

The three of you laughed, the tension easing as the bus made its way to the campus. The conversation shifted to other topics—summer adventures, new dorms, and the excitement of finally being in college.

As the bus pulled up to the campus, you took another deep breath. This was it. The start of a new chapter, with your friends by your side and endless possibilities ahead. You entered the bustling college campus with Sarah and Mark, the energy of the place buzzing around you. Students hurried left and right, some chatting excitedly, others looking just as nervous as you felt. A tall man stood near the entrance, handing out timetables and planners to the incoming students. "Here you go," he said with a friendly smile as he handed you your planner. "Welcome to college. "Thanks," you replied, taking the planner and stepping aside to let the next student through. You flipped it open, scanning the timetable inside.

"Who did you get?" Sarah asked, peering over your shoulder.

You looked at the names listed next to your classes. "I've got Mr. Sumner for English, Mr. Copeland for Music and Math, and Mr. Summers for Art and Drama."

Sarah's face fell slightly. "Oh no, I've got Mr. Copeland for English and Drama and Mr. Summers for Music and Math. We're not in the same classes."

Mark checked his own timetable. "Looks like I've got Mr. Summers for English and Art, Mr. Copeland for Drama and Mr. Sumner for Music and Math. We're all split up."

A pang of disappointment hit you. You had hoped to share at least a few classes with your friends. "Well, I guess we'll just have to meet up during breaks and after classes."

Sarah nodded, trying to stay positive. "Yeah, it'll be fine. We'll still see each other plenty."

Mark smiled reassuringly. "And who knows? Maybe we'll make some new friends in our classes."

You nodded, feeling a bit better. "Yeah, you're right. Let's make the most of it."

With that, the three of you headed off in different directions, ready to face the first day of college on your own. As you walked towards your first class, you couldn't help but feel a mix of nerves and excitement. This was the start of something new, and you were ready to take it on.
