MY BACK LAYS AGAINST THE SAND AS WATER SURROUNDS ME. My eyes are open and I stare at the rippled sky through the water. Mamma and Papà are discussing about what to do, they think that we can't stay here anymore. I don't want to leave, despite all that's happened here, I love this place.

And I don't want to go back, I don't want to remember what happened to me all those years ago. But by going back, I'll see her. Which makes me want to leave right now. But I don't think she wants to see me.

The water ripples and my father sits himself down beside me, getting his trousers drenched with water. He takes in a breath before speaking, staring out at the sea whilst I continue to lay underneath it. "Have I told you about my time as a Newborn?" I can hear my father's voice clearly, despite being under water.

I shake my head, still submerged in water. I can feel that this is a sensitive topic to him, and it hurts him to remember. "I was turned by an immortal named Maria. I was manipulated by her, controlled by her, a puppet. Maria took a liking to me, and I was psychologically abused by her." I sit up from the water and stare at my father as he recalls his past. I never knew any of this.

"I thought we were in love, but she was exploiting my abilities for her gain. I wouldn't say she sexually assaulted me, but she held power over me in ways. But I managed to escape, and that was the best decision I made." He stops speaking and turns his head to look at me, his golden eyes welling with tears.

"You're safe now, Claretta. He will never hurt you again. And I am so sorry for not knowing about it." My father wraps his arms around me and holds me tightly. His emotions are a wreck. I can't make sense of them. "It's not your fault, Papà. I hid what happened, from everyone. No one knew a thing." I whisper out and he strokes his hand over the back of my head.

I'm disgusted in myself, it's all my fault. I should've done something to stop it. "It's not your fault." My father says and continues to hold me in his arms. "He's at fault, and he got what he deserves." I nod my head and slowly move away from his embrace. I hear a gasp and my mother rushes out to us, the water soaking the end of her clothes.

Her emotions are panicked. She's stressing. "Darlin', what is it?" My father has moved to stand beside his mate. There's a phone in her hand, it slips from her fingers and Papà catches it before either lands in the water, holding it to his ear. For some reason, I can't hear what is being said on the other end of the device, and my eyes move to my mother.

Her black eyes are glowing red, she's stopping me from hearing the conversation. My father hangs up the phone and he turns to me. I still remain sitting in the water. "What? What is it? What's happened?" My parents look between each other and I move to stand.

"We need to leave." My father calls out and my eyes widen. "What- why?" I don't want to go back. I can't. I can't experience that again. My mother gives me a gentle smile and speeds back into the home. I follow behind her, completely confused.

"Mamma? Papá? What do you mean? Leave? Leave when?" I question and my father starts to pack our stuff. Mamma presses a kiss to my forehead and takes my hands. She stares into my wide golden eyes, trying to hide her panic.

"We must leave now. Aunt Alice has seen what will happen if we do not." My eyes widen at her words. "Aunt Alice? What did she see?" My mother's eyes move to my father who holds multiple suitcases in his arms. The two of them communicate in thoughts, my mother blocking me out from her mind.

"Sweetheart, please pack everything you need." I stare in between my parents, my eyes wide with my breath shaking slightly. They are both panicked, what Alice saw must've terrified them.

I swallow and nod my head, speeding into my room. I grab everything I need, folding my clothes into piles. My mother speeds into my room beside me, with two suitcases in her hands and she helps me pack my clothes.

"Tallulah, Claretta, we must go." Mamma nods her head and finishes zipping up the suitcase. Mamma holds my hand and squeezes it gently and we speed from the house and onto the beach. Papà has started up the boat and Mamma levitates all of our suitcases into the back of it.

The instant we get into the boat, it pulls off and leaves our island home behind. My head turns to look back at our home as it becomes a mere dot in the distance. My mother is on the phone, making arrangements for a private jet to be ready for us. Confusion wells in me and the sky around us turns cloudy and stormy.

The boat makes its way to shore and we hurry away. Papà gets all of the bags whilst mamma prepares the car. I make my way into the backseat and keep my eyes on the storming sky. It does rain here, and we get the occasional storm. But this... this thunder isn't natural. It's being made.

I can sense both of my parent's unease, their fear. But why? Why are they terrified? What's happening? Who's... happening? It's answer that I am unaware of, that my parents know. They aren't saying a single thing, but their phones are ringing constantly from notifications.

My own phone rings too, and I take it in my hand, looking at Aunt Alice's contact. I frown slightly and accept the call, holding the device to my ear, despite not needing it there to hear. "Claretta, are you alright?" Alice's voice is filled with worry. I frown slightly. "Yes, I am. Why?" My father glances back at me and the grip on the steering wheel tightens.

Alice takes a moment before speaking. "Nothing. Never mind." The vampire mumbles under her breath and my eyes move back to the window. "Where are you right now?" She questions me as the car goes speeding down the road.

"On our way to the airport," a cloaked figure passes my eyes as the car speeds down the road and I turn around in my seat to catch a glimpse of the person. It's gone. I frown and turn back around and the car stops. "Hey, Alice. I'll have to call you back." I hang up the phone and put it back into my pocket.

My father gets out of the car and goes over to the pilot, giving basic introductions and handing him a stack of money. He looks back at mamma and I, and we get out of the vehicle. I go to the boot and get the suitcases with mamma and some people come over to us, taking the objects from our grip and putting them inside of the plane for us.

From the corner of my eye, I see a cloaked figure watching me, watching us. I turn my head instantly, and my eyes move to the tanned cloak-wearing woman standing in the middle of the runway. She looks the same as she did a decade ago. Panic strikes within me and thunder crackles inside of the sky.

Lightning strikes behind her, casting her in a ghostly glow. No one here can see her, only me. My breathing becomes uneasy and red whisps slip from my finger tips for a moment. She disappears, flowing away with the rain.

My parents and I get motioned onto the plane and I look out of the window. Lightning strikes again and she re-appears. She's only staring at me. Her brown eyes lock with my gold ones and smirk lifts onto her red stained lips before she vanishes.

How has she found me again?
