:C H A P T E R  S I X:

"Hun, Carol's here!" I can hear my Mum's voice from downstairs.

"Okay!" I reply loudly, hoping for it to be heard from downstairs.

A minute later, a brown-haired girl comes into my room, "Ava! I've missed you so much!"

"It's been too long." I reply, hugging her tightly.

"Okay, we have so much catching up to do," She starts, "Especially you, miss. Now spill the beans!"

"So, I met this guy. Not really, so my parents asked me to meet with this guy, some son of their friend's" I start spilling those beans to Carol, my dearest best friend.

"Okay, go on," She urges.

"Well, we went to his house, he looked really quiet. He didn't say anything to me, his mother had to literally ask him to introduce himself." I pause, "And so he did."

"What's his name?" Carol asks, curiosity is evident in her tone.

"Harry, Harry Styles."

Then my story goes on until yesterday's campus tour. Carol listened really carefully into everything that I said, she payed attention to details and would ask if she thought I'm missing on some element. Now, it's her time to talk.

"I don't get it. How could he be so rude, then be nice right after?"

"Carol, my head's been dreading to find the answer as well." I sigh, running a hand through my hair.

"Anyway," Carol's eyes go wide as she says, "Why didn't you tell me about transferring earlier?!"

"I'm sorry," I pause and let out a huff before continuing, "I didn't think that I would go down with the plan. But, after thinking it through, maybe transferring isn't such a bad idea."

"Leaving me alone is a bad idea, Ava." Carol pouts.

"I know, but on the bright side, we get to miss each other more!" I try to reason with her, I knew this was a bad idea in the first place, leaving my best friend alone. In fact, I also knew that it was a bad idea for myself, I wouldn't find someone else to talk to there. They would all have found their own group of friends, and me being the new girl doesn't help with anything.

"You're not over him, are you?" She asks slowly.

I furrow my brows after hearing her question, I take my time thinking, "Why would you say that?"

"It's written all over your feature, Ava. And I'm your best friend, I can sense your deepest thought!" She says proudly on the last sentence. It's true though, we've been the best of friends since my earliest memory.

"Maybe you're right, I don't know." I answer, taking a deep breath and slowly giving myself into the fact that I haven't. No, I haven't moved on.

"Ale, it's been months, sooner or later you would have to move on. You can't forever mourn about it, you have to start fresh," Carol speaks slowly, "And now I have a good reason to support you on transferring. Despite the fact that you'll be leaving me, of course, I might say this transfer is going to do you good. It's just what you need, a fresh start."

I reach out and hug her, she hugs back immediately. That instance I realise that she's right, she always does. It's a great opportunity for me to start over, to forget about Caleb. He left nothing but pain for me, and I'm finally a good distance away from him. I wouldn't have to see his face everyday at campus nor seeing him anywhere near.

"You are always right, Carol." I finally speak.

"I know I am." She says proudly.

"Do you want to grab some lunch?" I ask her, after realising that hours have passed and it's nearly time for lunch.
