I sat in the backseat in between john and Finn, letting Finn play with my bracelet.
Tommy and Arthur up front.
"I thought you said that we were going to the fair." Arthur says.
Tom stops the car pulling the key out turning to Arthur. "We have business first, come on bring your wits."
"What business?" Arthur scoffs.
John leans toward me "that's the Lee family."
I nod slightly exiting the car after John, picking up Finn hoisting him onto my hip as we walk into a small camp with a few men.
"Tommy!" One of the men shouts.
"Johnny dogs!" Tommy yells back.
"Tommy, how the hell are you?"
"All the better for getting the city smoke out of my lungs." Tommy slightly smiles. "I thought you became a bit too grand for us." The man laughs
"I've been busy." Tommy lights a cigarette.
"I'm riding with the Lee family now." The man says as him and Tommy walk through the camp, me walking behind with Finn Arthur on my left and John on my right.
"I heard, myself id rather long among pigs." Tommy takes a puff of his cigarette.
Tommy's word causes one of the men by the water to turn around with a scowl.
"Come on, Tommy. No disputing. So your first fair since France?" The man crosses his arms.
"What do you know about Franc, you war shy gypsy bastard?" Tommy laughed
"So this is the horse?" Tommy says approaching a beautiful white horse.
"And that's the car, eh?" The man retorts as he walks past us checking out the back of the car.
"Hang on a minute." Arthur speaks up.
"You're not swapping the family car for a bloody horse." Arthur glanced at me then to Tommy.
"Of course we're not swapping it. Huh? That would be mad." The man comes back from the car.
Finn starts getting fussy and I give him my bracelet slightly bouncing him up and down.
"We're going to play two-up." Tommy says.
The two men stood side by side and flipped coins into the air I scoffed slightly rolling my eyes wishing I had just stayed home with Polly.
They glance down at the coins in silence, before picking them up spitting in their hands and shaking on it.
"Here you are." Tommy hands the man the car keys.
"Tommy what in the blood hell are you doing?" I speak up.
"I knew it. Tommy you bloody idiot." Arthur yells.
"Shut up, Arthur, I won." Tommy smiles "I promised Johnny could have a spin in the car if he lost."
"Good."
I look over as the three men by the water begin laughing at Arthur, I take Finn back to the car already knowing what's going to happen.
"Are you Lee boys laughing at my brother?" Tommy asks, stepping forward.
"Are you? Eh? I asked you a question?" Tommy yells.
"Tommy Tommy! Come on!" Johnny yells getting in between them.
"Get your family out of here and go enjoy yourselves at the fair."
