How are you supposed to figure out your unfinished business if you are trapped in an ancient staff for a thousand years? I never asked to be a ghost. And I thought my friend would have helped me figure out why I was still trapped on earth, not betray me and have our tribe leaders trap me in a stupid rock in a stupid staff.

over the last thousand years or however long it's been, I've been figuring out what I will do when I escape. I planned to take revenge on the human race. But I had no idea how to do it because I didn't know the extent of my spiritual powers since I was trapped in the staff for so long.

I was confused and scared as I was suddenly pulled out of the staff and put into a new human body. apparently the term for a ghost or demon taking control of someone else's body is called possession. practically any ghost can do this possession thing. But my situation is complicated because I either am in this body, or I am trapped in the staff. there is no way for me to not be trapped. But with a human body, at least I can see what the humans had been up to for so long.

I ran away when I saw other humans, afraid they might try to keep me down in the caves. since the humans had put me there before, I didn't want to risk losing what little freedom I had just regained.

I continued to run, not stopping until I couldn't see the two strangers anymore. up until this point I hadn't noticed the other spirits that had been following me. I had to wait for this body to breath, these breaths were sharp. Gosh I did not like this limitation of the human body back then or now. ghosts don't need to breath, but ghosts can't exactly walk or run either.

"who are you? why are you following me?" I said after a minute once this body's breath was close to calm and steady.

"we died in those mines about 6 years ago. we found the arch and decided it was a sign that we are to serve you, our queen."

"Queen?"

"The crystal in your staff is made of the sweet thing the humans call sugar. even on it's own sugar is able to manipulate the mind, getting people addicted to it's sweet but deceptive structure. since you've been trapped in your staff for so long you've become one with the sugars that formed in those tunnels. the arch describes you as being a candy queen, being able to use sugar to manipulate even life itself."

Right then it hit me how I could exact my revenge on humanity. But I had to know how much of an influence sugar actually had on their modern world.

"Where is the nearest sign of their modern world?"

"there's a gas station down that road about 20 miles. after that, nothing for quite a while." one of them pointed down a flat-ish path made out of some artificial rock I didn't understand. and before I could ask questions a strange manmade machine came rolling by. it made a loud noise that sounded almost like a dying goose as it passed me.

"then this station of gas is where I need to go." I took off running again, but had to stop quickly because this body's limbs were starting to hurt and I recognized the feeling in the pit of her stomach. this body was hungry.

"What you need is some food. we figured you probably wouldn't have a plan for that when you escaped. so we terrified a few humans at that gas station a week ago and got you some food."

the ghosts dropped some candy at my feet and I quickly ate the candy. this sugar was deceptive, giving me a false sense of excess energy. but it would be enough to at least get me to this gas station place to get some actual food that this body could digest. with the advancements in human civilization that I was quickly learning about I wasn't sure just hunting and eating animals without cooking them would be able to sustain and nourish this body.
