Y/n P.O.V

After being let past the pool by D, I continue further through the school. Somehow, I still found no sign of Sung-a which was making me worry. Was I really going to have to search the entire school?! The school was so large, it'd take nearly the whole night to find her! I let out a low groan as I finish searching yet another classroom and leave. However, upon leaving, I find myself in a different hallway. I look to my left and see the hallway was never-ending with a dimly lit hall that I couldn't see the end of. I turn to my right and I'm met with the same sight.

As if that wasn't bad enough, a voice called out, singing a song.

Unsure of what to do, I begin walking down the left hall.

Y/n: I wonder what spirit this is...

I mutter under my breath. I roam the hall for a little longer before seeing large red scratch marks on the walls. Upon seeing them, I began to have a feeling this ghost was going to cause some form of harm, making me quicken my pace. As I did so, the voice grew louder.

I continue moving and turn a corner, only to be met with a dead end! My hand reached out to touch the wall and I checked if it was possible to break it down. Unfortunately, that didn't seem to be the case. I turn around and peek around the corner. Due to there being barely any lights, I couldn't see a thing. Taking a deep breath, I start running down the hall the way I came from.

I didn't get far as I felt something grab my arm from behind and pull me back! I let out a scream as I was tugged back and fell onto the floor. The figure dropped themselves on my lap and leaned in towards my face, making my eyes widen and my breath catch in my throat. It was a woman wearing school uniform and she had dark long hair. While her body seemed mostly human, her most identifying features were the large claws she had for nails and her giant white tail. She giggled playfully and ruffled my hair.

???: 안녕하세요! 내가 널 너무 무서워한 건 아니었지?

Y/n: W-What? Sorry, my Korean's kinda rough.

???: Oh! My bad. I was asking if I didn't scare you too much. You're a new face. And you don't look Korean.

Y/n: Y-Yeah, I'm a new transfer. I was supposed to be meeting someone here. A student called Sung-a.

???: Hmm... Sung-a... Nope! Haven't seen her.

She gets up off me, allowing me to stand up on my own. I dust myself off and sigh.

Y/n: So what's your name?

???: Don't have one. But everyone just calls me the Fox Spirit. But you can just say Fox.

Y/n: Right. So what's your gimmick? I met D and hers was the swimming pool.

Fox: Oh! You met D? And she let you go?

Y/n: Yeah. I like to think we became friends.

Fox: Heh. Well, D always was a good judge of character so if you're a friend of hers, you're a friend of mine. And to answer your question, my "gimmick" is that I like to play harmless pranks. You know, making up endless paths, singing creepy songs, pouncing like a wild animal. It's all in good fun.

Y/n: What about those scratch marks on the walls?

Fox: I just do those to increase the scare factor. It certainly worked, am I right? ~

I chuckle sheepishly and nod, rubbing the back of my head.

Y/n: Yeah. Definitely creeped me out.

Fox: Heh. Don't worry, I make sure I don't physically harm anyone. Everyone in this school knows I just like to have fun.

Y/n: Right. Anyway can you stop the illusion now? If I keep running into ghosts and spirits, I'm probably not gonna get any learning done.

Fox: Why don't I teach you how to speak Korean? I've been around for a long time, I can teach you a thing or two.

Y/n: Because I'd rather not keep a girl waiting. Especially when there's hundreds of ghosts who want to kill people here. Like the janitors.

Fox: Oooooh. Yeah, good point. Don't hold it against the old guys though. They're possessed and forced to act out like this. Come tomorrow morning, they'll be a lot better. Just uhh... Don't tell them they got possessed. It'll just be a recipe for disaster.

I nod.

Y/n: Got it.

Fox: Alright, take care. And again, sorry for scaring you. Consider it my way of saying hello.

Y/n: I'll see you around Fox.

Fox: I look forward to it.

The halls returned to normal and I could finally continue walking. I smile and nod at the Fox Spirit before turning away and continuing to walk.

Y/n: So a mermaid and a fox... What's next, a spider?
