The flight back to Seoul felt dreary and heavy. Taehyung had arrived in London full of excitement for his best friend's wedding, but now, on the return journey, he found himself a married man—bound to someone he barely knew.
As the plane soared through the endless stretch of clouds, He stared out the small window, watching the world beneath blur into oblivion, but it offered no solace. He does feel a pull towards his newly wedded husband—a strange pull, a force he didn't quite understand but couldn't shake.
Taehyung bit the inside of his cheek, feeling a wave of anxiety wash over him. His hand twitched, fingers grazing over the cold platinum band that now encircled his finger, a stark reminder of the vow he made to someone he barely knew. He had hoped for something more, something real—something with love, not just a deal signed under the pressure of convenience. Yet, here he was, tied to Jungkook, a crazy rich man.
On the other hand, Jungkook shifted uncomfortably in his seat, casting furtive glances toward Taehyung. Guilt gnawed at him, guilt for pulling Taehyung into his whirlwind of selfish desires. He had acted irrationally, driven by madness he couldn't explain, and now they were both paying the price. But Taehyung—he paid the most.
He knows this marriage and their relationship is fake, there is an expiration date for that as well, yet he feels guilty and wants to make sure Taehyung doesn't feel uncomfortable while they are together.
His gaze wandered back to Taehyung, noticing the way the stranger -turned-fake boyfriend-turned-husband stare out the window, lost in his own thoughts. The guilt intensified. Jungkook wanted to say something, anything to make Taehyung feel better, to ease the discomfort between them. But what could he say? Sorry I dragged you into this? It didn't feel like enough.
Shifting slightly in his seat, Jungkook leaned closer, his voice hesitant but soft. "Taehyung," he began, watching as the other man turned his head slightly, acknowledging him without fully meeting his eyes. "I'm... I'm really sorry about all this. I never wanted to make you feel trapped or uncomfortable. I know this isn't ideal, but... I will do my best to make sure you are okay."
Taehyung's eyes flickered towards him for a moment, a flicker of something passing between them before he turned back to the window. His voice, when he spoke, was quieter than Jungkook had expected. "I don't feel trapped," Taehyung murmured, though he wasn't sure if that was entirely true. "Just... confused and nervous."
Jungkook let out a soft sigh. "I am too."
For a while, they sat in silence, the tension between them thick but not unbearable. It was strange. There was no hatred, no resentment. Just confusion. Both of them, caught in a web they didn't quite know how to untangle.
"Once we get back to Seoul," Jungkook ventured after a long pause, "we can figure this out together. I don't want you to feel like this... marriage... has to be a burden for you. We just need to put an act until we find the truth about your father and when I..." Jungkook gulped pausing what he was about to say. He doesn't want to be selfish again. "We will find the truth and then we part ways."
Taehyung finally looked at him then, meeting his eyes with a searching gaze, as though he was trying to understand Jungkook's sincerity. "And what about you?" he asked, his voice more serious now. "You want your father to entrust the Jeon Empire to you. You wanted to be the President of Jeon group." Taehyung paused biting his lower lip. "Do you feel like it's a burden?"
Jungkook swallowed hard, his throat suddenly dry. He wanted to say yes, wanted to admit that this wasn't what he had envisioned either, but he couldn't. Because deep down, some part of him didn't feel burdened. They had already shared an intimate moment and he doesn't regret even a little. But some part of him felt something else entirely, something dangerous and unspoken. Something that scared him.
