*TRIGGER WARNING* (Self harm)
So on with the story...
My name is Scott Hoying. I was 23 years old and this is my story. There's nothing worse than feeling like you don't belong. That you're nothing. Worthless. Suicidal. Careless. Useless. I could go on but I won't keep you. But I had to get away. I just had to. My life was the definition of hell. No friends. Just bullies and strangers. I became a victim when I came out as gay my sophomore in high school. I was picked on and teased. Then it got physical. I came home everyday with a new scar or bruise I didn't want to explain to my parents.
My dad didn't care he didn't accept the fact that I was gay. My mom on the other hand was my biggest supporter also my only 'friend'. She would sneak me food in my room at night when my father wouldn't let me eat dinner. He thought 'I didn't deserve it'. But I didn't bother arguing anymore because I knew I could count on my mom. Until one day she got in a car accident. She was in a coma for a while then when she woke up she couldn't remember anything. My 'dad' saw this as a chance to turn her against me. Eventually she acted as if she hated my guts but I saw the sadness in her eyes when my father screamed at me. She was still my mom. The same mom to let me cry on her shoulder when I was sad. That I talked about boys with. That understood me more than anyone else in the world would ever understand about me. As soon as my mom started sneaking me food again I knew MY mom was back.
But back to other things. Eventually I graduated high school and went to college. But college only made it worse. I was alone. Just me and my razor. It seemed to release the pain every time I slid it on my body. I never imagined I would be so depressed and I hated it so much. I had no one to talk to. and everyone hated me. So I decided that the best thing was to get out and start over on my own. I used the money my parents gave me for college to buy a house. It was old and shabby but it was cheap and I thought fixing it up would take a lot of my time and my mind away from my past. The first day I entered my home I had a really eerie feeling and it was freezing although it was about 80 degrees outside. Hmm weird. I didn't think about it anymore later but then I heard noises from the kitchen. I walked through the hall going into the kitchen to see what the noise was.
"Hello?" I called out nervously
Nothing
Ok so maybe my mind is playing tricks on me. I turned around to head out the kitchen. I jumped back about 10 feet and screamed at the top of my lungs when I saw a little girl standing in the door way. The little girl looked up and smiled at me.
"Hi my name is Lilly." She said reaching her hand out for me to shake.
I regained myself and walked over to her and crouched down to eye level with her.
"Hi Lilly. I'm Scott." I said shaking her hand
She was cold to the touch and it gave me chills. She looked down suddenly releasing my hand.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you." She spoke with her head hung low
I felt bad "It's ok Lilly. I forgive you."
She looked up with hope filled eyes and regained her smile. "Thank you!" She yelled joyfully lunging forward wrapping her hands around my neck hugging me tightly.
I wasn't expecting that. But I hugged the young girl back.
"Lilly? How did you get in my house?" I asked hesitantly.
She looked as if she was thinking really hard before answering. "Ummm your door was unlocked and I always greet the new neighbors. Are you mad at me?"
"No of course not I was just curious."
She smiled sweetly at me. I turned my head to look at my door then back at the little girl and she was gone.
"Lilly?"
Nothing
Hmm maybe this place won't be so bad. I mean I already made a friend. Kinda. I mean she may have been half my age but a friend is a friend. I felt the cold eerie chill again. But I brushed it off and continued unpacking into my new house.
The next morning I woke up with my covers across the room. Hmmm I wonder how that happened? I ignored it getting up and ready for the day. I hopped in the shower and put on a pair of boxers, sweat pants and a black T-shirt that had a picture of a colorful, pixelated tiger on the front. I threw on a snap back and went down stairs to fix my breakfast. I went just a little but crazy and made too much food. That's when I heard a knock at the door.
I got up to answer it. Maybe its Lilly. I opened the door and to my surprise it was a brown haired man standing in front of me. The simplest way to describe him was beautiful. He had brown eyes with speckles of gold in them and plump, full, pink lips. He was shorter than me. His head hit right around the bottom of my chin. He was quite thin and a little frail looking.
"Hello" the man said. "I'm Mitch." He said reaching his hand out.
"I'm Scott." I returned shaking his hand and I felt a spark shoot through my entire body but also a chill from his freezing cold touch.
He giggled. I swear my heart started beating 20x faster than it was before. It was the most beautiful sound I've ever heard.
He dropped my hand and looked me up and down. A smirk playing on his beautiful lips. Whoa Scott down boy. You just met him literally 30 seconds ago. He could be a killer for all you know. I mentally scolded myself.
"I umm.... I uhhh I..... W-Want to c-come in?" I asked stuttering like all hell. Moved to the side allowing him to come in. He smiled at me and walked in looking around the house seeing the few improvements I've made. "Do you want some breakfast? I over cooked and I wouldn't mind the company." Did that sound creepy? Maybe a little. But I don't think he took it that way .
Mitch smiled and nodded "Sure."
Breakfast was really quiet until Mitch broke the silence.
"So why did you buy the house?" He asked taking a bite of his eggs.
"Good deal and I uhhh... I like to fix things." I replied honestly.
He smiled at me again. God I couldn't get enough of his smile. Shit Scott stop it.
"Stop what?" Mitch said looking up at me in confusion.
"I didn't say anything."
"You said stop it. Stop what?" He pressed for an answer.
"I.... I did-dn't m-mean to s-say that out l-loud. S-Sorry." I said stuttering like an idiot. What was this boy doing to me.
"No it's ok." He giggled again sending chills up and down my spine. "Thanks for breakfast" He stated getting up.
"No problem."
He walked around the corner to the door. I stood up to follow but as soon as I turned the corner he was gone. And I was once again left with an eerie feeling and a cold chill. The house always seemed to be cold. I wonder if the thermostat was broken? I shrugged it off and started cleaning the dishes. Today I was planning on doing a lot of redecorating and painting.
