READER'S POV- time skip (year 2006)
,,What would you like to eat?", my boyfriend, Kaito, asks me, while we walk down the streets of Tokyo. I grab his hand and intertwine our hands:,,My stomach has appetite for... Sushi.."
Kaito chuckles softly and pats my head:,,But sunshine.. You have to eat proper food too. You didn't eat anything since yesterday..." I pout and look away:,,But I want sushi..."
He lets out a soft sigh and shakes his head:,,Fineee but promise me that you'll also eat something proper, okay?" I giggle and nod:,,Yes, I promise that!"
We turn to a narrow alley and continue walking in silence. It was the type of silence where you felt comfortable, safe and... My eyes widen when I see something sharp flying towards us from behind. I turn around, seeing a curse with a dagger in its hand. Before I can do anything, the curse rams the dagger into the back of Kaito's neck, making him gasp in pain and surprise.
The curse giggles and pulls the dagger out, wanting to ram it into his neck again, but I'm faster and grab Kaito's arm, pulling him away. The curse, who has the form of a human's body, turns around, its red eyes looking into mine.
No way... That's a special grade curse. I signal Kaito to lean against the wall, clenching my fists. I don't know how to use the blood manipulation properly... Shit... What should I do? I swallow as I watch the curse approaching me.
Instead of leaning against the wall, Kaito moves in front of me, using the reverse cursed technique to heal his wound. I let out a relieved sigh and let cursed energy run through my body. Two against one? Nevermind, we will win.
I watch as Kaito fights against the curse for a while, unsure if I should intervene. Come on. Don't be scared. You have a strong technique. Just use it. I clench my fists and take a step forward.
Then I intertwine my hands with each other, and put my index fingers and thumbs out, forming a gun with my hands. ,,Blood bullet", I whisper to myself and a small bullet of blood flies out of my hand, towards the curse with lightning speed.
The curse gasps when the blood bullet pierces through its chest. Kaito looks in my direction and gives me a proud smile. Warmth spreads through my body and I smile back. Suddenly, the curse rams its dagger into Kaito's chest, making both Kaito and me gasp.
Kaito's face contorts in pain and he looks into the curse's eyes. The curse smirks and pulls the dagger out, charging the dagger with a dangerously high amount of cursed energy and rams it back into Kaito's chest.
I watch in horror, unable to move from my current spot because of the shock. No... No.. Go safe him... No... DON'T JUST STAND! DO SOMETHING!! HE WILL DIE!! I let out a shaky breath and my heart thrums against my chest.
I look at Kaito, seeing his face has become several shades paler, his eyes glassy and his lips slightly parted. NO... KAITO!! Seeing him like this, makes me snap out of my shock and I cross the distance between me and the curse, slamming my fist into its stomach. The curse lets out a grunt and takes a step back.
I don't give the curse any time to regain its strength, slamming my other fist into its face, earning myself another grunt. The curse flies backwards, landing against the wall of a building. I form a circle with my hands and look at the curse, fury burning beneath my skin:,,Blood bomb."
But before the blood bomb can manifest, a weird sensation rushes through my body, making me freeze. The curse stands up and smirks:,,Domain expansion... Failed love." A shiver runs down my spine and I gasp in surprise. What...? No... No... This can't be true.. This can't be true... No no no no no...
Everything around us becomes dark and I am now standing in water. I try to move but my body is frozen in place. The curse walks past me and I swallow. After a few seconds, the curse walks back to its old spot, holding Kaito in its arms. Horror hits me and I start to shiver as I see Kaito's pale face, his eyes wide open and glassy and his body limp in the curse's arms.
No... Kaito... no no no no... Not him... KAITO... My heart shatters into million pieces and I swallow the lump in my throat.
The curse manifests a small dagger with a long chain and drills it into the chest of Kaito with cursed energy. A gasp escapes my lips. Then the curse pulls the dagger out, Kaito's blood being a stark contrast to the silver colour of the dagger. Kaito falls to the floor, water splashing in all directions.
With slow and precise steps, the curse walks towards me, its hands intertwined and holding the chains of the dagger, while seeming to pray. The dagger flies to the side with each step and I swallow, a shiver running down my spine. I fight back my tears and try to move but I still can't.
When the curse stands in front of me, it suddenly drills the dagger into my chest, the sharp pain making me wince and I grit my teeth. ,,The inability of saving your partner during a serious fight. This shall be punished with the curse of failed love. You'll fail in your future relationships. You'll not be allowed to receive love and give love. Love will be poison to you", the curse says.
As I look down, I see the chains of the dagger slowly moving deeper into my chest and my eyes widen even more. I shake my head and look back up:,,N-No... No... P-Please..."
But before I can say anything else, my eyelids become heavy and I lose my consciousness, falling onto the ground.
