Sorry, this one's a couple days late.
Looking through the binoculars, I was amazed at what I saw.
I stood on top of a hill, and everything stretched out below me. I could see tiny blades of grass and sagebrush that were very far away. Little flowers dotted the landscape and I thought I saw a rabbit or some other small animals nibbling on one.
A couple hundred yards away, a doe grazed on some grass. She stood next to a tree that I could see birds flying in and out of. I saw a couple of different kinds. Magpies and crows, and I think I saw a bluebird, but I'm not sure.
Pulling the binoculars away from my eyes, I looked at the sunset. It was going down, probably about a half hour until it was dark.
The sky was a beautiful blend of colors. It was yellow closest to the sun and the ground. Then it faded to orange, to pink, to blue, to indigo, then to violet.
I walked back to my car, thinking about how amazing this place was. How many people got to drive ten minutes from their houses and see this? I felt that I was pretty lucky.
I watched the sun dip closer to the horizon. It steadily sank, and eventually, it was gone.
I switched on my headlights and started my drive home.
