We stepped through the plants of the forest. Everything glowed blue and purple, and the air had cooled since the sun went down.

"I bet we're almost there," he huffed from in front of me.

I responded, "We had better be."

He gave a small laugh.

We walked for a few more minutes before he stopped. He squatted to the ground, his skin shining blue from the plants around him. I dropped next to him.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Something moved. Up ahead. I only got a glimpse."

"How big?"

He grunted. "Not sure."

We were tucked underneath large plant leaves, and I scooted forward under them. We were so close. We couldn't lose it now.

Now I could hear rustling ahead.

I pulled back some plant fronds and my eyes went wide. He appeared beside me.

Finally!

A tall creature with black fur and six eyes sniffed the ground. Its weight shifted on its six legs as it stepped.

It was beautiful.

We had been tracking it for months but still needed more information on it. We hadn't even named it yet.

We both watched in silence as it lay down on the ground. I pulled out my sketchbook and began to draw the creature.

Once it leaped away, we got up and I put away my sketchbook, smiling.

We had a little more info now.

I'm picturing basically a thanator from Avatar. Here's a picture.
