few years before Wei Ying's birth, Shen Qingqiu and Shang Qinghua, in their usual reckless curiosity, decided to descend from Cang Qiong Peak to explore the cultivation world below. Their husbands, Luo Binghe and Mobei-Jun, had gone ahead to investigate a village they were passing, leaving the two peak lords to wander leisurely along a quiet, picturesque forest trail.
The sunlight filtered through the trees, casting dappled shadows over the path. It was peaceful, the kind of day where the world seemed to hum softly in the background, completely at ease. Shen Qingqiu and Shang Qinghua were talking casually about the changes they had seen in the cultivation world in recent years. It wasn't the violent, turbulent place it once had been; peace had settled in, and the world seemed far more welcoming.
"Wow, it's kind of strange how peaceful things are now, huh?" Shang Qinghua mused, his hands behind his back as they strolled. "I mean, I guess it's a nice break from all the chaotic drama we used to deal with."
Shen Qingqiu shot him a sideways glance. "Peaceful, yes, but don't jinx it, Airplane Bro. The last thing we need is another disaster on our hands."
But disaster, as fate would have it, was already on the horizon. Not a few steps later, Shang Qinghua's sharp eyes caught sight of a peculiar plant off the side of the road. Its leaves shimmered in the sunlight, an odd purple hue that immediately caught his attention.
"Cucumber Bro, come look at this!" Shang Qinghua pointed at the plant excitedly. "I swear I wrote about this in *Proud Immortal Demon Way! It looks like one of those plot plants I put in for... dramatic reasons."
Shen Qingqiu frowned. "Are you seriously considering touching something you wrote in that trashy novel of yours? Have you learned nothing?"
Shang Qinghua shrugged. "Come on, what's the worst that could happen? Besides, I think this was one of the harmless ones... I mean, probably."
Against his better judgment, Shen Qingqiu sighed and watched as Shang Qinghua carefully picked one of the leaves. The plant had a strange fragrance, almost sweet, which only heightened their curiosity. Without waiting for further discussion, Shang Qinghua nibbled on the leaf. Shen Qingqiu, exasperated and suspicious, followed suit.
The effects were immediate. A wave of dizziness hit them both, followed by a strange tingling sensation that rippled through their entire bodies. Shen Qingqiu staggered slightly, grabbing onto a tree for support.
"Airplane Bro, what did you—" He stopped mid-sentence, blinking in confusion as he looked down at himself. His robes were now hanging differently, and there was... a fullness in places where there shouldn't be.
Shen Qingqiu's eyes widened in horror. "What the hell is this?!"
Shang Qinghua, who had been staring at his own now-feminine body, looked just as shocked. "Oh... oh no. Oh no, no, no. I think I remember now... this plant! It has a transformation side effect! I may have written that it turns people into women!"
"You think?!" Shen Qingqiu's voice was sharp as he examined his new form, panic rising. "How long does this last?"
Shang Qinghua bit his lip nervously. "Well... I think I gave it a ten-year time limit in the novel. It was supposed to be for dramatic tension. You know, a gender-bender arc."
Shen Qingqiu's expression was unreadable for a moment, then fury flashed in his eyes. "Ten years?!"
Before their argument could escalate further, they heard footsteps coming from behind them. Their husbands were returning.
Luo Binghe and Mobei-Jun approached with casual confidence, unaware of what awaited them. But when their eyes landed on the two women standing in the middle of the trail, their expressions immediately darkened.
