After my dad left, I sprawled out on my new bed. I had just gotten my first big girl apartment, a nice 7th story place on the Upper East Side. 55 West 81st Street in the American Gardens Building. On top of that, I got my first big girl job. I'm the executive assistant to some Paul Allen at Pierce & Pierce. I can already picture myself in those little pencil skirts with ballet flats, running around the office with a pen in my hair, then unwinding with a glass of wine in the evening. I'm in the city of dreamers and wow, it feels great.
Just a month ago, my mom and I had flown out to NYC for my interview with Pierce and Pierce. I was so nervous, but now, I've got the job and I've got the nicest apartment I could afford. Two days until I'm in the in crowd.
