In my fourth year of practice, I stumbled upon an audiotape by the visionary behind Network Chiropractic. Something he said resonated deeply within me. He posed a thought-provoking question to himself: Could the person he was today accomplish all the aspirations he held for the future? The answer was a resounding no. It struck a chord, and I realized that I, too, needed to grow and transform on all levels: mentally, physically, and spiritually. With newfound determination, I embarked on a journey of self-improvement. I prioritized my physical well-being by adopting healthier habits, engaging in regular exercise, nourishing my body with vital nutrients, and seeking out holistic therapies such as chiropractic, massages, and acupuncture. To nurture my mental and spiritual well-being, I delved into the Bible and other spiritual literature, immersing myself in audiotapes that fueled my growth. I found peace and community in attending church, participating in Bible studies, and, of course, dedicating myself to daily prayer.

Another profound revelation came to me through an audio sermon delivered by a renowned Southern Christian minister. His words struck a chord within me as he pointed out how people often approach God with their demands: God...? I need a new job, a new girlfriend, a new car, etc. But he emphasized the importance of listening to God, a practice often overlooked. Inspired by his example, he shared his morning routine of reading a passage from Scripture, seeking guidance on how to be a faithful servant and fulfill God's will. Afterward, he would sit in quiet reflection, attuning his ears to listen. Intrigued by this concept, I decided to incorporate it into my daily routine before heading to work. For three or four months, I faithfully practiced this ritual, consciously choosing to evolve myself. And to my amazement, I began to witness a shift. My chiropractic practice started to attract more patients, and a steady stream of income flowed in. I experienced what some might call "synchronicity" – a remarkable alignment with the divine, spirit, or purpose. It was as if my life orchestrated encounters with the right individuals, placed me in opportune situations, and guided me to take the necessary steps toward fulfilling my intentions and higher calling. With my practice flourishing, I continued to focus on personal growth and evolution, knowing that aligning myself with a higher purpose brought forth abundant blessings.

On my synchronistic journey, I found myself meeting friends for happy hour at a quaint old Japanese restaurant nestled in the heart of Chinatown. As the sun set, this unassuming place would transform into a lively karaoke bar, attracting college kids and locals alike. Being someone who valued punctuality, I arrived a little early and settled in at the bar, eager to quench my thirst with a drink. Behind the counter stood an older woman, her stature robust and her long curly brown hair flowing freely. She donned enchanting, dark, and billowy attire reminiscent of a gypsy's garb. Sipping my beer, biding my time until my friends joined me, the woman turned to me and spoke with a gentle smile, "You have nice energy. What do you do for a living?"

"I am a chiropractor," I replied.

"Oh, I am in the healing profession as well," she said.

I looked at her curiously and asked, "What do you do?"

"I am a Reiki practitioner," she said.

"What is Reiki?" I asked.

She paused for a moment, contemplating the best way to convey the essence of Reiki. After a brief reflection, she shared, "It's kind of like what Jesus did when he would lay his hands on people to heal them." As a Christian and a healthcare practitioner, her words ignited a spark of curiosity within me. Sensing my interest, she posed the question, "Would you like to try a session?" Though her description left me somewhat uncertain, I embraced the mindset of openness and willingness to try new things, especially when it involved healing and the connection to Jesus. Considering that I had a massage room in my practice, I proposed the idea of her visiting my office for a session. To my delight, she accepted the invitation, and we scheduled an appointment for the following weekend. I reasoned that, at worst, I would be out $60, and life would simply move forward.
