The next day dawned with a quiet resolve in Veer's heart. After giving it a lot of thought, he had made a decision. He was going to try with his mother. He was going to give their bond a chance, even if it was terrifying.
As he stepped out of his room that morning, he felt a mix of anxiety and hope. He could already smell the aroma of breakfast wafting through the air, and it brought back memories of simpler times-before business had taken over their lives.
When he reached the dining area, he was greeted by the sight of his mother sitting at the table, her expression brightening the moment she saw him. Hope filled her eyes, a stark contrast to the sadness he had seen just a few nights ago.
"Good morning, Veer," she said, her voice light and cheerful.
"Good morning," he replied, taking a seat across from her.
"Let's wait for Tara," he suggested, trying to keep the atmosphere light.
His mother nodded enthusiastically, a full-blown smile spreading across her face. The change in her demeanor was heartwarming.
Veer leaned forward slightly, wanting to know how she was doing. "How are you? Are you feeling good? Is it fine for you... staying alone at the house all day?" he asked, his words tumbling out in quick succession, surprising even himself.
His mother looked at him, her smile still bright. "I'm fine, really. It feels a little lonely sometimes, but Tara keeps calling me, checking in or telling me about some project she's working on. It keeps me company."
Veer raised an eyebrow, pleasantly surprised. "Tara calls you?"
"Yes," she said, a hint of pride in her voice. "She's very sweet. I think she feels responsible for both of us."
That was news to Veer. He hadn't realized how Tara had taken it upon herself to support his mother, and it made him appreciate her even more. How did she manage all of it so effortlessly? Her work, her emotions, and now this? No matter how many times he had said it, he truly admired her.
Just then, Tara entered the dining room, dressed in her perfectly tailored suit, for the office. When she noticed them waiting for her, she flashed a small smile and said, "Sorry for getting late!"
As they waved her off, she settled down at the table, her energy radiating as she took in the cheerful atmosphere.
"Good morning, Aunty," she said, looking at Veer's mother.
As they started eating, the atmosphere felt different from the day before. Veer's mother, with a hint of nervousness, decided to break the silence.
"So, what are your plans for the weekend?" she asked, her voice brightening.
Tara looked up, smiling. "I was thinking of checking out that new art exhibit downtown. I've heard great things about it."
Veer raised an eyebrow. "That sounds interesting. I didn't know you were into art."
