The portal opened in the nexus and the PAW Patrol quietly exited it. As it closed behind them, they looked around, trying to find any signs of the captured future pups. The nexus is an astounding kingdom made up of hard-as-bedrock multiversal energy. The castle was enormous. Liberty remembered what Camelot was like in Fragile Futures, and it was NOTHING compared to Victor's ginormous empire.
Ryder: Pups. Do you see anything?
Zuma: Other than that large kingdom ahead of us, no.
Chase: (sniffing the air) I wonder what amount of evil-scented Happy Trees Victor has in this place that's making my nose less than useful.
Dolly: I agree. I could hardly smell ONE scent.
Rubble: Keep trying, Dolly.
Skye: Yeah, Chase. You and Dolly have the best noses.
Chase was now encouraged by his friends. So, he put his nose to the ground and continued the search. The group followed them all the way around the castle, avoiding the Vancevilllian Knights guarding it. Then where Chase and Dolly didn't find pups, they smelt Victor. He gasped as he got up.
Chase: Guys. I smell something.
Liberty: (looks to Tot) We're going to need to get you into some personal hygiene, kid.
Motor: No, not him. Now I smell it, too!
Aurora: Yeah. (spots a shadow) Now I SEE it!
Tundra: (sees the shadow) Run for cover!
Devan: Yipe!
Everyone ran to the caves on the sides and hid there until the shadow figure came to being. It was a Vancevillian Knight. It sniffed the air, knowing it smells the PAW Patrol nearby. Liberty and Zuma covered the whimpering mouths of Nano and Mini while Motor cover's Tot's.
Tot: (quietly) We're gonna die. We're gonna die. We're gonna die.
Motor: (shushing, putting a paw over Tot's mouth) Shut up, Tot!
Then the Vancevillian looked around. Then it froze, like a dog pointing to a scent it caught. Then the Knight floated back to the castle. The PAW Patrol sighed in relief once it was gone.
Everest: Whew!
Sage: Close one!
Ryder: For a minute, I thought we were goners.
But, as it turns out, they are going to be! That Vancevillian DID catch their scent, heard them AND saw them! But it didn't destroy them on sight. It had direct orders from Victor to alert him of them here, not destroy them and do its master's job for him. It floated to Victor's throne room where the prisoners lay in their cages and Victor stands guard, but also having gained information about the mysterious cracks in the multiverse. The Vancevillian floated to him with urgent news.
Vancevillain Knight: My lord. The PAW Patrol have been spotted. On the northeastern side of the castle.
Victor E. Vance: (smirking) Excellent.
Then the PAW Patrol have made their way through the caverns and into the throne room. There, they saw their future pups. Caged up. Devan, Dolly and Rubble ran to Jojo's cage swiftly and light on their paws. Jojo turned around and silently gasped at the sight of ehr family.
Jojo: Guys!
Dolly: It's okay, sweetie! We're getting you out!
Max: (sees the others) Guys, you shouldn't have come back!
