Sushila had grown into a curious girl who loved to explore, often sneaking out to roam around the halls of Hogwarts alone, much to Snape's frustuation.
And now Sushila had an owl plunked down to keep an eye on her, which would squawk loudly whenever she'd try to sneak out, and a nanny elf named Twily to keep her busy.
"I'll give you a peanut if you won't snitch on me," A now seven year old Sushila whispered to the Snape family owl, Onyx, holding out the treat.
The owl narrowed his eyes, clearly not impressed.
"Two peanuts," Sushila coaxed, taking out another one from her pocket.
The bird hooted indignantly, puffing out his feathers.
"𝘍𝘪𝘷𝘦 peanuts, no more than that," The girl said, frowning slightly.
"Bribing the owl won't get you anywhere," A voice said, and Sushila jumped, whirling around to see her father entering the living room with a cup of coffee.
"I wasn't bribing the owl," She said, scowling at Onyx who was now greedily nibbling on the peanuts. 𝘊𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳.
"Oh?" Snape raised an eyebrow. "Then you were just feeding him peanuts out of the goodness of your heart?"
Sushila sighed, accepting defeat. "Fine, but it gets lonely here, Dad."
"You have Twily to keep you company," Her father pointed out.
"Twily is an 𝘦𝘭𝘧. I want to meet people. It's not the same."
"Right, and what about Hagrid? You visit him every Sunday."
"That's to learn the flute," Sushila protested. "I want to spend my time with someone who's in my age group!"
"Then you're still very little, kid," Snape said with a smirk, taking a sip of his coffee.
"The first years make up for that," The girl countered earnestly. "They're around my age group."
Snape sighed, setting down his coffee and folding his arms. "You know the rules, Sushila. No roaming around the school without supervision."
Sushila sighed, knowing that arguing with him when he was in this mood, was futile. "Fine, I'll stay here."
Twily came as soon as Snape left to teach the classes for the day, and with her, came a sea of instructions.
"You haven't practiced your flute yet, miss!"
"You're not supposed to touch those books, miss!"
"You haven't done your writing assignments, miss!"
"You need to make your bed, miss!"
"You haven't sorted the ingredients yet, miss!"
Sushila groaned, before aggressively sifting through the crushed beetle powder.
"You're spilling it all over, miss!" Twily squeaked, conjuring up a rag to clean the mess.
"I don't want to do it, Twily," Sushila whined, keeping the sieve aside. "I want to go out. Explore. Feel the sun on the face and wind in my hair..."
Twily looked torn. "But Master Snape has said that you're not allowed to go anywhere without supervision."
"Master Snape can go and..." Sushila trailed off, the gears turning in her head. "I've got a brilliant plan."
"What is it, miss?" Twily asked tentatively.
"Dad said that I couldn't roam around without supervision, but I can roam around with supervision..."
