Jungkook sighed, the soft hum of the car filling the quiet space between them. The road stretched out ahead, illuminated by the glow of streetlights. Seokjin’s hand found his, fingers naturally intertwining, a gesture that felt steady in the calm of the drive.

"Why are you so nervous? We’re just meeting your parents," Seokjin said, his tone casual, like it was any other day.

"Exactly. My parents." Jungkook’s voice held a hint of frustration. "You’re meeting them, and you should be worried, but you’re not." He glanced over, but Seokjin seemed unfazed, focused on the road ahead.

Seokjin chuckled softly.

"Seokjin!" Jungkook’s exasperation grew, filling the quiet car.

"Yes, baby?" Seokjin replied as if nothing could unsettle him.

"You’re acting weird," Jungkook muttered, turning his attention to the passing scenery.

"And why’s that?"

"Because you’re too relaxed for someone meeting their in-laws for the first time." He glared at him.

"In-laws?" Seokjin’s lips curved into a teasing smile. "So, you’ve thought about a wedding already?"

Jungkook quickly looked away, hiding his slight embarrassment. "Whatever." Despite himself, he felt a small smile tugging at his lips as Seokjin’s quiet laughter filled the air around them.

They stood in front of Jungkook's parents' house, the evening quiet but for the soft hum of distant cars. Jungkook was sure if it weren’t for Seokjin's steady hand resting at his waist, he'd melt into the pavement from sheer nerves. He glanced over, catching Seokjin’s calm face, and tried to steady his racing heart.

He looks at seokjin before pressing the bell.
"Don't be nervous, okay? Just stay with me all the time and-oh the wine! You have the bottle, right? You–"

Seokjin ignored his rant as he swatted Jungkook’s hand away and rang the doorbell with a swift, confident move. Jungkook barely had time to scold him before the door swung open, revealing his Mrs. Jeon standing there as though she’d been waiting for them.

"Jungkook, my baby!" she exclaimed, pulling him into a warm, motherly hug making Seokjin smile.
For a second, all of Jungkook’s nerves melted away as he returned the hug just as tightly, breathing in the comforting scent of home.

"Eomma, it's good to see you," he smiled, his voice soft.

"I was waiting for you," she said, parting to glance at Seokjin, her eyes twinkling with curiosity. Seokjin bowed slightly, offering a polite, “Good morning, ma’am.”

"Oh, my!" she gushed, pulling Seokjin into a hug. "You're so handsome, you could be a model! Jungkookie picked a good one." She playfully cupped his cheeks, her smile widening.

"Eomma!" Jungkook huffed, cheeks reddening.

"Oh, hush," she laughed, while Seokjin smoothly revealed a bouquet of flowers.

Jungkook's mom practically gushed and took the flowers. "Jungkookie, he's so sweet!"

As she ushered them inside, Jungkook tugged Seokjin to sit with him on the couch, the soft fabric sinking under them. His mom took the chair across, her eyes sparkling with amusement.

"So, Seokjin," she began with a teasing smile, "how's my son treating you? He’s not being too much of a brat, is he?"

"I'm not a brat," Jungkook huffed, crossing his arms defensively.

Seokjin shot him a raised brow before turning to his mother, lips twitching into a smirk. "Yeah, he's not," he said smoothly, though the playful glint in his eyes said otherwise.

"Eomma!" Jungkook whined, face flushing as both Seokjin and his mom laughed at his sulking expression.

Their conversation was interrupted by a subtle throat clearing. Jungkook's heart pounded as his father appeared at the base of the stairs, his stern expression making Jungkook’s nerves return full force.

"Appa," he greeted, standing quickly, with Seokjin casually following. Jungkook tried to mentally prepare for the cool reception his father usually gave, but Seokjin was already stepping forward, acting like he owned the room.

"Mr. Jeon, it’s a pleasure to meet you," Seokjin said, voice smooth and unbothered. Jungkook internally cringed, expecting his father’s typical stiffness, but what happened next made his jaw drop.

Without hesitation, his father’s stern face melted into a warm smile, and he—of all things—pulled Seokjin into a hug. A hug. Jungkook stood frozen, wide-eyed, as Seokjin returned the hug with a satisfied grin.

"Son, welcome," his father said, clapping Seokjin on the back like they were old friends.

Seokjin pulled back, shooting a quick, mischievous glance at Jungkook, whose mouth was still hanging open in disbelief. As they returned to the sofa, Seokjin plopped down beside him, his eyes twinkling with mischief.

Jungkook stared at him wide-eyed, his mind still blank. Meanwhile, Seokjin simply leaned in a little closer, whispering, "see, your dad loves me. Told you I’d be fine."
