As the Ryujin Nippon team gathered for their morning practice, Mayu sprawled herself comfortably on the couch, phone in hand, half-watching the chaos that always accompanied the team's pre-practice rituals. A volleyball bounced off the wall and narrowly missed her head, courtesy of Ran Takahashi, who was already trying to warm up.

"Mayu, you can't just sit around all day doing nothing," Yuki scolded from across the room, his arms crossed in full "big brother mode."

Mayu, without missing a beat, looked up lazily from her phone and replied, "I'm not sitting around doing nothing. I'm observing. There's a difference."

Taishi Onodera, who had just finished stretching, walked past her, shaking his head with an amused grin. "You'd think with a brother who's the captain of Japan's national volleyball team, you'd have picked up some volleyball skills by now."

Mayu snorted, shifting in her seat. "Oh, I know volleyball. I just prefer watching you guys run around in circles while I sip my tea. It's quite entertaining, actually. Like my own personal reality show."

Yuji Nishida, who overheard the conversation, tossed a volleyball toward her. "Come on, Mayu-chan. Why don't you join us for practice today? We'll go easy on you."

Mayu side-eyed the ball in her lap and pushed it off gently with her foot. "Yeah, no thanks. I'm not trying to die today. I've seen what you guys do to a volleyball. I prefer my bones intact and unshattered."

Ran grinned, walking over and playfully messing up her hair. "You're no fun, Mayu-chan. Come on, how about just one spike? I promise not to hit you too hard."

"Ran, if I step onto that court, I'll be a pancake within two seconds. Let's leave the professional running-around-in-circles thing to you guys." She patted her brother on the back. "I'll stick to being the smart one in the family, thank you."

Tatsunori Otsuka, who had developed a soft spot for Mayu despite her constant teasing, grinned from ear to ear. "You know, Mayu, we could always use some of your sharp wit to liven up practice. Maybe teach us how to trash-talk better. It's a skill we don't often use on the court."

"Trust me, Tatsunori, you couldn't handle my level of sarcasm. It's an art form, honed over years of practice. And it requires a certain... finesse."

He wasn't deterred. "So... are you saying you're too scared to teach us?"

Mayu narrowed her eyes at him. "Oh, Tatsu, sweet Tatsu, you're really going to try reverse psychology on me? You do know I've mastered that since birth, right?"

"I don't know. It seems like maybe you're scared to get out of your comfort zone," he teased, smirking.

"Oh, I'm not scared. I'm just smart enough to know better than to jump into something where I'd clearly dominate and make all of you look bad."

The other players couldn't help but burst into laughter. Tomohiro Yamamoto, always the more chill and relaxed member of the team, grinned from the sidelines. "Maybe you could give us some sarcasm training, Mayu. How to be sarcastic 24/7 and still somehow survive."

Mayu smiled sweetly. "Oh, I'd be happy to give you lessons. First rule: if Yuki says something, just ignore him."

Yuki groaned from across the court. "Very funny, Mayu. Remember, I'm still in charge around here."

"Sure you are, Captain," Mayu called back. "And I'm in charge of keeping your fragile ego intact."

Despite her reluctance, the boys weren't going to let Mayu off the hook so easily. Yuji, ever the instigator, grabbed another ball and grinned mischievously. "How about this, Mayu-chan? One spike from me. If you catch it, you get to boss us around for the rest of the day."

Mayu narrowed her eyes suspiciously. "And if I don't catch it?"

"Then you have to join us for practice tomorrow," Yuji shot back, knowing she wouldn't be able to resist a challenge.

Before she could even think of an excuse, the entire team was egging her on. "Do it! Do it!"

Realizing she was cornered, Mayu sighed dramatically. "Fine. But if you kill me with that spike, I'm haunting you all forever."

She stood up and reluctantly made her way to the court. Yuji prepared to serve, bouncing the ball on the ground with that signature, cocky grin on his face. The rest of the team stood back, watching the showdown unfold like an intense anime battle.

"Ready?" Yuji asked.

"Nope. Just get it over with," Mayu replied, holding her hands up in a half-hearted attempt to prepare for the incoming missile.

Yuji leapt into the air, launching the ball with his full power. It flew toward Mayu like a heat-seeking missile, and for a split second, she froze in terror. But at the last second, she ducked.

The ball smashed into the wall behind her with a resounding thud.

"Ha! Nice try, Nishida!" Mayu called out, standing up triumphantly. "You never said I had to actually catch it—just that it couldn't hit me."

The team exploded into laughter, and even Yuji had to give her credit for her quick thinking. "Alright, alright. You win this round, Mayu-chan. But next time, no dodging."

"I'll pass, thanks," Mayu said, casually strolling off the court like she hadn't just narrowly avoided being flattened. "I'm better suited for mental sparring anyway."

After practice, the team gathered in the living room for dinner. Mayu sat in her usual spot, in between Akihiro (who was still bitter about the stolen chips) and Ran (who was plotting his next prank, no doubt).

"Mayu-chan," Ran began, leaning toward her conspiratorially. "How do you feel about wake-up pranks?"

Mayu raised an eyebrow. "Wake-up pranks? Like, pouring cold water on someone while they're asleep?"

Ran nodded enthusiastically. "Exactly. It's the perfect revenge on Yuji for that spike earlier."

She grinned. "I like the way you think. But make sure you record it. We'll need evidence for when he inevitably denies everything."

As Ran began planning his attack, Akihiro leaned over, muttering under his breath, "You're going to be the reason this house falls apart."

Mayu smiled sweetly at him. "Aki-kun, I'm just here to encourage team bonding. Isn't that what you all need?"

Akihiro just shook his head, defeated. "Just don't touch my snacks again."

"No promises," Mayu winked, grabbing a chip from his plate.

As the night wound down and the team slowly headed off to their rooms, Yuki approached Mayu, who was still lounging on the couch with a smug look on her face.

"You know, you've only been here a few days, and I'm already starting to wonder how we ever survived without your... creative input," Yuki said, sarcasm dripping from his voice.

Mayu stretched lazily, pretending to be deep in thought. "It's a mystery, really. But don't worry, Yuki. I'll make sure you all survive me. Barely."

Yuki shook his head, but there was a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Just try not to burn the house down while I'm at practice tomorrow, okay?"

"No promises, Captain. But I'll try."

And with that, Mayu settled in for another night of chaos, fully embracing her role as the agent of mayhem in the Ryujin Nippon household.
