One quiet evening, after a long day of practice, Mayu sat alone on the patio, gazing up at the sky. The stars were scattered like diamonds, the night air cool but comforting. She wrapped her arms around herself, deep in thought, reflecting on everything that had happened since she first moved in with her brother and his teammates.

The stalking incident had been terrifying, but it had also shown her the strength of the bonds she shared with Yuki, Tatsunori, and the rest of the team. They had protected her, stood by her side, and given her a sense of safety she hadn't realized she needed. But more than anything, Tatsunori had been her constant.

Lost in thought, she didn't hear him approach until he quietly sat down beside her.

"Mind if I join you?" Tatsunori's voice was soft, almost hesitant.

Mayu turned and smiled. "Of course not," she said, scooting over to make room for him on the bench.

For a few moments, they sat in comfortable silence, watching the stars. There was something peaceful about being alone together, away from the noise of the house.

"You've been quiet lately," Tatsunori finally said, glancing at her. "Everything okay?"

Mayu nodded, though she hesitated. "Yeah, I've just been thinking. About everything that's happened."

Tatsunori waited, his expression patient, as he always was with her.

"I don't know how to thank you for everything you did," Mayu said softly. "For protecting me. For being there when I needed you the most."

Tatsunori turned to her, his gaze intense but gentle. "You don't need to thank me, Mayu. I would do it again, without a second thought."

Her heart fluttered at his words, and for a moment, she was at a loss for how to respond. "Tatsu... why are you always like this?"

"Like what?"

"So calm. So strong. Like nothing ever fazes you."

Tatsunori chuckled, a deep, soft sound that made her smile. "I'm not as calm as you think," he admitted. "Especially not when it comes to you."

Mayu's breath caught, her eyes widening as she turned to look at him fully. Tatsunori's usually guarded expression softened, and for the first time, she saw vulnerability in his eyes.

"After everything that happened, I realized something," he continued, his voice steady but filled with emotion. "I don't just want to protect you because you're Yuki's sister. I want to protect you because... I care about you. A lot."

The weight of his words hung in the air between them, and Mayu's heart pounded in her chest. She had known, deep down, that something had changed between them, but hearing him say it out loud made it real.

"I care about you too, Tatsu," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "More than I realized."

Tatsunori's eyes flickered with something unreadable, but then, slowly, he reached out and took her hand in his. His touch was warm, grounding her in the moment. "Then let me be the one to keep you safe. Always."

Mayu felt her heart swell, a sense of certainty washing over her. "You already are."

They sat like that for a long time, hands intertwined, the unspoken promise between them finally solidifying into something real, something tangible.

In the weeks that followed, the relationship between Mayu and Tatsunori blossomed in the midst of the usual chaos of the Ryujin Nippon house. The team, of course, never let them live it down.

"You guys are disgustingly cute," Ran teased one morning as he watched Tatsunori place a cup of tea in front of Mayu. "I'm starting to feel single and lonely in my own house!"

"Don't be jealous," Akihiro smirked, clapping Ran on the back. "Not everyone can be as smooth as Tatsu."

"Smooth?" Tatsunori raised an eyebrow. "I don't know what you're talking about."

The boys erupted into laughter, but Mayu just smiled, her heart light. The teasing didn't bother her anymore. She had found her place among them, and more importantly, she had found something with Tatsunori that made everything else fade away.

As for Yuki, he had taken on his usual role of the overprotective big brother, but he couldn't hide the smile on his face when he saw how happy Mayu was. Though he still made jokes about Tatsunori "stealing all the credit," he was genuinely relieved to see his sister safe and content.

One evening, as the team gathered for a rare break between matches, Yuki pulled Tatsunori aside. "You better take care of her," he said, his voice serious but his expression soft.

Tatsunori met Yuki's gaze, unwavering. "You know I will."

Yuki gave him a nod, then clapped him on the shoulder. "Good. Because if you don't, I'll have to knock some sense into you. Even if I'm still recovering from that pipe."

Tatsunori chuckled, the tension breaking. "Understood, Captain."

That night, Mayu and Tatsunori found themselves back on the patio, just like the night they had first confessed their feelings. The stars above twinkled brightly, and the soft breeze carried the sounds of laughter from the house behind them.

"Think things will ever calm down around here?" Mayu asked, her head resting on Tatsunori's shoulder.

Tatsunori smiled, wrapping his arm around her. "Not likely. But I don't mind the chaos, as long as you're part of it."

Mayu looked up at him, her heart full. "You're not getting rid of me that easily."

"Good," he said softly, leaning down to kiss her forehead.

As they sat together, under the stars, surrounded by the lively energy of their makeshift family, Mayu realized that she had found something rare and precious. Not just love, but a home, a place where she belonged.

And in that moment, with Tatsunori by her side, she knew that no matter what chaos life threw their way, they would face it together.

It was the perfect ending to one chapter of their story—and the beginning of another.
