The days following the gala were a whirlwind of excitement and anxiety. While Nate's public declaration had silenced many critics, it had also intensified the scrutiny on Olivia. Gossip Girl had turned their relationship into a spectacle, dissecting every moment and creating a narrative that weighed heavily on her.

Olivia sat on her bed, scrolling through her phone. The latest posts were a mix of admiration and judgment, with comments from anonymous users that cut deep. "It won't last," one said. "Just a publicity stunt," said another. The messages echoed in her mind, gnawing at her self-esteem.

"Liv!" Blair called from the hallway, interrupting her thoughts. "You ready to go?"

"Yeah, just a minute!" Olivia shouted back, forcing a smile as she set her phone aside. She wanted to be excited about their plans, but the weight of public opinion loomed like a dark cloud.

When they arrived at the café, Nate was already waiting at their usual table, a bright smile on his face that quickly faded when he noticed Olivia's tense demeanor. "Hey, everything okay?" he asked, concern etched on his features.

"Yeah, just... tired," she lied, not wanting to burden him with her worries. But the truth was, she felt anything but okay.

As they settled into their seats, Nate tried to lighten the mood, cracking jokes and sharing funny stories about the ridiculousness of high society. But Olivia found it hard to engage. The whispers, the stares, and the constant scrutiny gnawed at her, and she felt overwhelmed.

"Liv, you're awfully quiet," Nate said, his brow furrowing. "Is something bothering you?"

She hesitated, emotions swirling inside her. "I don't know, Nate. Maybe it's just... all this pressure. The gossip, the comments... it's exhausting."

"It's just noise," he replied, trying to brush it off. "We can ignore them. What matters is us."

"Can we really?" Olivia's voice trembled slightly. "I don't want to feel like I'm constantly fighting to defend our relationship. Is it worth all this stress?"

Nate's expression turned serious. "Of course it's worth it! We're good together, Liv. We can handle anything."

"Can we?" she challenged, frustration bubbling up. "Because it feels like we're just becoming fodder for Gossip Girl's next big story. I don't want to be the girl in the headlines anymore."

"Then don't be!" he replied, his voice rising slightly. "You're letting them get to you, and it's not fair."

"Maybe it's not fair, but it's reality!" Olivia shot back, her heart racing. "I can't just pretend it doesn't bother me."

Nate sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I'm trying to help, Liv, but it feels like you're shutting me out."

"Maybe I need some space," she said, the words tumbling out before she could stop them. "I don't know if I can keep doing this right now."

The air between them crackled with tension, and Olivia felt a pang of regret as soon as the words left her lips. She didn't want to push him away, but the pressure felt suffocating.

"Liv, please," Nate pleaded, leaning forward. "You don't have to face this alone. We can figure it out together. I care about you."

His earnestness tugged at her heart, but doubt clouded her mind. "What if I'm not strong enough for this? What if I can't handle it?"

"Then let me help you," Nate said, his voice steady. "We're a team. I won't let you fall apart. We can get through anything together."

Tears welled in Olivia's eyes, and she felt a rush of conflicting emotions. "I don't want to be a burden," she admitted, her voice shaky.

"You're not a burden," he assured her, reaching across the table to take her hand. "I chose to be with you because of who you are, not despite it. If it gets tough, we tackle it together. That's what relationships are about."

Olivia's heart ached at his sincerity, and she squeezed his hand tightly. "I'm scared, Nate. Scared that I'm dragging you into all this, that I'll ruin everything."

"You're not dragging me anywhere," he said firmly. "I'm right here because I want to be. You're worth it, Liv. You make me happy, and I don't care what anyone else thinks."

His words pierced through her doubts, and she felt a flicker of hope. "But what if it gets worse?" she whispered.

"Then we face it together," he repeated, his grip on her hand reassuring. "I promise I won't let you go through this alone. We'll build our own narrative, one that's not dictated by anyone else."

Olivia took a deep breath, letting his words sink in. "Okay," she said, her voice steadier now. "I'm sorry for lashing out. I didn't mean it."

"It's okay," Nate replied, a soft smile breaking through his earlier worry. "I get it. It's a lot to handle."

As they sat together, hands entwined, Olivia felt a renewed sense of strength. They had faced challenges before, and she realized that with Nate's support, she could navigate this storm, too.

"Let's take it one day at a time," she suggested, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. "I don't want to lose you over this."

"Same here," Nate said, his eyes warm with understanding. "We're in this together, remember?"

With that, they shared a smile, a silent agreement that they would face whatever came their way—together.
