To say James Potter was a great Quidditch player was an understatement. He was the best seeker Hogwarts had seen in years, and that wasn't about to change.
The Gryffindor Quidditch captain drops himself onto the couch beside me, casually throwing an arm around my shoulders.
"What do you want this time, Potter?" I ask, my voice laced with amusement as I turn to him.
"Why do you always assume I want something? Can't I just hang out with a pretty girl without you getting all suspicious of me?" He replies, a charming grin tugging at his lips.
"The only reason you ever talk to me is either because you want something, or Remus has put you up to it," A small, amused smile slips onto my lips. His grin widens at the sight of it.
"Would it surprise you to know that I actually enjoy your company, and don't do it just to make your brother happy?"
"Yes."
He huffs with mock offence. "Why don't you like me, (y/n)?" He pouts.
"It's not that I don't like you, James. It's that you're annoying."
"Oh, come on. I'm not that annoying." He returns defensively.
I roll my eyes with a smile. "Sure you're not."
There's a moment of silence as he studies me, and I notice his eyes fall to my lips for a split second as he looks away.
"Are you going to the finals this weekend?"
"Of course I am. Everyone is."
"Oh, right."
I smile at his pout, leaning my head on his shoulder. He fights to hold the pout, but can't, a soft smile upturning the corner of his lips as his arm tightens around me.
"Aww, look at you two, getting all cosy." Peter teases as he walks in with Remus and Sirius not far behind. They all take the other seats by the fireplace, and my brother shoots me a teasing smile. I glare back.

That weekend, I make my way to the stands, the other three Marauders in tow. We find seats right by the banister, and I sit myself between my brother and Sirius. As the players take their positions, I spot James across the field and his eyes catch mine. I smile and wave, and he grins back.
The game begins, and I lose sight of him among the dizzying array of green, red and gold robes flying around the field. Whenever I do manage to catch sight of him again, the focused look on his face never fails to make me smile. A few times throughout the game, his eyes graze mine, and he'll wink or smirk at me, but most of the time he doesn't notice my eyes on him, focused as he is on the game.
Remus seems to catch on to my constant line of sight and decides it's finally time to comment.
"Like what you see?" He whispers, grinning.
My cheeks flush slightly. "Shut up."
"Ah, so you do." Sirius chimes in from my other side.
"I didn't say that," I reply defensively.
"No, but your lack of a proper response did." Sirius grins.
"Admit it, (N/n), you have a crush on him." Remus teases.
"No, I don't."
"She totally does," Sirius snickers to his boyfriend.
I groan and cover my burning face with my hands.
