PROLOGUE
I've played hockey since I was 5. I began with rec. hockey, but when I turned 7, I began playing minor hockey. And I've played organized hockey ever since.
My name is Marissa Eliza Baxter. I have straight black hair and sky blue eyes. I love hockey, the only thing is I'm the only girl on my team.
"No, way!" My dad said when I asked him if I could play on an all-girls hockey team. "Those things are expensive. You should be happy I even let you play organized for what things these days cost."
"What!?" I cried. "But dad, you pay for Riley's AAA hockey and all his prospect camps. Why can't you pay maybe $150 for a girls league?" Dad shook his head.
"The only girls league I know of is girls AAA." Dad replied.
"So let me try out for AAA!" I pleaded. Dad shook his head.
"No way, Mar," he replied sternly. So I was stuck playing organized hockey with a bunch of boys while my brother would probably play AAA.
Yay.
But the world has a way of twisting things in ways you wouldn't expect it. It twists it until it seems like a fantasy. It might give you what you want but not exactly how you thought it would be.
