I quickly check my watch while hurrying down the hall to my locker. Two minutes until class starts- and I can't risk being late again after what happened yesterday. Why are there always so many people blocking the hallway? Could they be walking any slower? I turn left and stop at my locker. I put in the combination and yank on it. Of course, it doesn't open. It never does when I need it to, I'm literally fed up. After two more tries, I finally get it open. I quickly gather up my textbooks and hold them awkwardly in one hand while slamming my locker closed and fumbling with the lock.
Finally, I take off down the hall- my math class is almost on the other side of the school from here. As I'm hurrying down the stairs, I don't notice someone walking out from behind a door. I slam into them and my textbooks and papers go all over the floor. Just as I was wondering if this day could get any worse! As I bend down to start picking them up, a muscular hand gently covers mine.
"Let me help you with that." a voice that sends shivers down my spine speaks softly in my ear. I look up to piercing dark chocolate orbs staring into mine. For a moment, time seems to stop. All I can see are those luminous eyes bordered by a thick frame of lashes. I feel my cheeks heat up as I fumble for words. "I- It- uh... It's okay, I can do it myself." Wow, this is embarrassing. I quickly break eye contact and start gathering up my things. "I- I'm so sorry, I'm just- I- didnt see you there..."
"It's ok, it was kind of my fault. I shouldn't have been walking so fast." he says while handing me my papers.
Before I can say anything else, the bell rings. Oh no! Mr. Frank will be furious. I manage a quiet 'thank you,' take my books, and rush to class. I wonder who that guy was, I've never seen him before. I still can't shake the image of those deep brown eyes out of my head as I near my class.
