The village of Konoha always had an eerie quiet at night. The streets would empty out, leaving only the faint rustling of leaves and the occasional patrolling shinobi to break the silence. You, however, always find solace in the quiet. A break from the chaos of the day, from the loud training sessions and endless missions. The moon was high in the sky as you walked through the empty streets, your sandals making soft clicks against the stone pathway. Tonight, though, the quiet felt different—tense, even.
Your mind wandered to Sasuke Uchiha.
He had returned to the village not long ago, his vengeance finally sated after defeating his brother, Itachi. But the man who returned wasn’t the same boy you once knew. The darkness that clouded his eyes was unmistakable. Everyone could see it—the emptiness, the coldness that had settled within him. You, too, had noticed. But you saw something else. Something in his gaze when it landed on you that felt… possessive.
You had tried to ignore it at first. The lingering stares, the way he would show up unexpectedly during your training sessions or missions, the casual questions he would ask about your day—none of it seemed alarming at the time. You even welcomed it at first. Sasuke, after all, was an enigma, and there was something magnetic about his presence. But recently, the air around him felt heavy, oppressive even. You couldn’t shake the feeling that something wasn’t right.
Your heart raced as you turned the corner, the moonlight casting long shadows across the ground. The alley was dark, but you knew your way around well enough. The Uchiha district was just ahead, its once vibrant streets now lifeless. Sasuke lived there alone now, in the house that had seen too much death and too much pain. You hadn’t been to see him in days—partly because of your missions, but mostly because you wanted to create some distance.
As you walked, you thought back to the last conversation you had with Sasuke. He had asked you to visit him, his voice calm but with an edge of something you couldn’t quite place.
“I want to show you something,” he had said, his dark eyes locking onto yours in that way that made your skin prickle.
You had promised you would, but then the feeling of unease had settled in your chest, and you hadn’t gone.
Suddenly, a noise broke through your thoughts. A soft shuffle of feet—someone was following you. Your heart skipped a beat, your instincts kicking in immediately. You quickened your pace, but the footsteps grew closer, heavier.
You stopped, spinning around to face the source of the noise, but the street behind you was empty. Your breath caught in your throat, the cold night air biting at your skin.
“Who’s there?” you called out, your voice steady despite the growing sense of dread.
No answer.
Your hand instinctively moved to the kunai at your side, your body tense and ready for a fight. But the shadows remained still, the only sound of the wind rustling through the leaves of the nearby trees.
“(Y/N).”
Your blood ran cold at the sound of your name, spoken in a low, familiar voice.
Sasuke.
You turned around slowly, and there he was, standing a few feet away from you, his dark eyes reflecting the pale moonlight. He looked calm, almost serene, but there was something in his expression that made your stomach twist.
“Sasuke,” you said, trying to keep your voice steady, though you could feel your heart pounding in your chest. “What are you doing here?”
He took a step closer, his gaze never leaving yours. “I told you I wanted to show you something. You didn’t come.”
