Walking into a chapel with an empty altar is not ideal for your wedding day, but then getting married to your ex fiancés dad is even weirder.

Angelo Romano POV:

Today was the day that my son would meet his bride. He is not my son, really; he is my nephew, but I took him in when his parents, my brother, died. I got myself dressed in a nice all-black suit and slicked my hair back just a little bit. I headed downstairs and called Lukas to ring.

'The number you are trying to re-' I hung up the phone aggressively.

"This boy..." I say to myself.

I waited another 10 minutes, calling him now and again, but no answer, it just kept going to voicemail. I check my watch and realize I'm going to be late to pick up Genevieve. I grumble as this isn't supposed to be my job it is his. I call up our driver and get into the car. I tell him where we are going, and we set off. I keep texting Lukas, getting more irritated with every unread message and phone call. I set my phone down and focused on the new matter, my daughter-in-law. I have seen pictures of her from what her father has shown me; she is pretty, I must say, she has lovely amber eyes... what? Why am I thinking that she is only 18 and my son's fiancé?

Some time passes, and we pull into the airport, driving to where her plane let off. My driver steps out of the car to let me out. Taking my sunglasses off, my eyes catch her figure almost immediately.

'She's stunning,' I thought to myself, the photos were nice, but seeing her in person was wonderful. She was like an angel fell from heaven. I walk towards her father, stretching my arm out for a handshake.

"Mr. Moretti." He returns my handshake, saying something about how it's nice to see me again. My eyes kept going back to her; she was so beautiful... Her eyes lock onto mine as her hand is placed in front of me for a kiss, I grab her hand gently and kiss it, it is soft... she tells me her name.

"Genevieve Moretti..." Her voice sounds like the songs of heaven, so gentle.

"It is lovely to meet you." I nod in response, and quickly realizing the situation, I change my demeanor.

"Likewise... So you are the lady that my son is to marry. I apologize for his absence he is back at the manor." That last part was a lie; I do not know where he is, and that irritates me more. I chatted a little bit more with her father, just about dates and the wedding. Then her voice cuts in.

"Well, shall we get going, I wouldn't want to keep anybody waiting." I shake her father's hand one last time before waiting for her to walk with me back to the car. She says her little goodbye before catching up with me and walking alongside me. I open her door and let her get inside before I get in.

The drive back to our manor was silent, I messaged some of my clients and sent some more texts to Lukas. We finally get back to the manor. I show her inside and explain a little bit about how the manor is laid out:

"You will not share nor sleep in the same bed as Lukas; you have your room upstairs, I will get one of the servants to show you. Lukas should be around here, if you need anything, just let me know. We appreciate you doing this, Mrs. Moretti." I smile lightly at her. I call over one of the servants to show her to her room, as she leaves, I go to my study, it is dark, a desk in the middle with bookshelves lining the walls. I sit down, grumbling in annoyance.

I told him he had to cut off any little girlfriends he had.' I finish up some work I had lying around before I hear the front door shut. I quickly get up and rush to see who it is, Lukas...

"Lukas..." my voice was low and serious. "Where have you been?" I yell into his face and his head drops. "You were supposed to come with me to go get your soon-to-be-wife at the airport." I rub my temples in annoyance "Do you understand how embarrassing it is for me, me? Go and get your fiancé?"

"I'm sorry, father; I lost track of time." What an excuse.

"What were you even doing?" my arms crossed over my chest.

"I- I don't know..." right...

Dinner time rolls around pretty quickly, I sit myself down at the end of the table, Lukas to the right and Genevieve's place to the left. I get someone to go and get them into the living room. I wait around 5 minutes before Genevieve emerges, she smiles lightly toward me, taking her seat. Lukas comes in shortly after.

"Introduce yourself, Lukas," he grumbles lightly before starting up some small talk with Genevieve.

He is such a foolish boy; I think to myself, I give him everything in the world, and the one time I need something from him, he is disrespectful.

When the table goes silent again, I bring up the topic of the wedding, "Genevieve, did your parents tell you anything about the wedding?"

Her gentle eyes come up to look at mine; she slips a piece of hair behind her ear. I sat there waiting for her to finish chewing her food. "Yes, Mr. Morano, they told me a little bit. I know that I am to be wed to Lukas Morano, but I do not know anything more than that."

'Mr. Morano' the way she says my name plays in my head like a broken record. I hear a scoff come from Lukas as she speaks his name. I know he is not pleased with the decision, but he will have to grow to like it.

"Father, may I be excused?" turning my head to look at him, I shake my head.

"No, you need to learn more about your future wife, Genevieve. I will leave you two be." I sit myself up from the table, leaving the room I hear a grumble come from Lukas. Not wanting to make a scene, I make my way to my study.
