"NOVACANE, BABY, BABY!" marisol and lottie sing—well, scream— the lyrics to novacane by frank ocean. mari sits criss cross on her fluffy white chair at her makeshift vanity as lottie sits at hers in their dorm for two. the pair are getting ready for a party at the frat mari's brother, mateo, is in.
marisol gets all her papers for her classes written and lottie gets her piano notes done. that's their life during the day, but at nighttime, they're rarely home. frat parties aren't anything new to them as it's their second year at this university. they know not to wear their heels and to accept defeat if someone were to throw up on their shoes.
which is the main reason why the pair always wears shoes or boots they don't mind getting dirty.
the two continue to sing novacane while they finish up their makeup for the night. marisol did her and lottie's hair before they started their makeup just to get it out the way. marisol brushed the last bit of setting powder from under her eye and placed the brush back into her brush cup.
"done!" mari said, clapping her hands a few times. "i'm almost done!" lottie replied, still applying blush.
"no worries, the party's only 30 minutes in." mari responded, now getting up to stand in front of their full body mirror. the frat they're going to's party's never start on time, it was an unspoken rule to get there an hour after it "starts".
mari had on sweats and a hoodie, claiming she didn't want to change before doing her makeup in case she gets her outfit dirty. she carefully took her hoodie off, revealing the pearly white tank top she had on underneath. she nodded to herself at the good choice she made of keeping the hoodie on.
she slipped her sweatpants off and pulled a slightly sheer red skirt from off her bed. she pulled the skirt up and it sat right under her hips, showing off her bikini tan like from the summer.
mari returned to her vanity and opened her jewelry box—which lottie frequently borrowed from as mari did the same with hers— and pulled out a few bracelets and arm cuffs that she believed went good with her outfit. at this time lottie finished her makeup and was fixing her outfit in the mirror.
marisol stood next to her best friend in the mirror, fixing the placement of her bracelets a bit. "bitch, we look hot!" lottie exclaims, a beaming smile on her face.
"we really do." mari said back with a laugh.
the two added their finishing touches to their outfits and were now busy taking photos. lottie snapped a photo of them together, "that's the one!" she said.
"finally! i love that picture, we need to post." mari added, feeling accomplished.
mari looked at the time on her phone, it read 10:54PM. "you think we should head out soon?," she asked as she showed lottie the time.
"yeah, let's just get our bags ready and i'll call an uber." lottie replied, going to her closet and figuring out which purse she wanted to bring.
mari grabbed a white and red purse that was hanging on the hook of her closet door and brought it to her vanity, putting her lipgloss, mints, and a few other things into it. she checked her outfit once more in the mirror before turning the lights off and heading downstairs with lottie.
lottie ordered an uber and they stood outside, only having to wait a minute before the black car pulled up to pick them up. the girls we're buzzing with excitement, something that usually happened when they were on the way to party's.
