Mondays....

God I hate Mondays, the worst day of the week. It was cool and the sun wasn’t scolding thankfully but I was still sweaty. The straps of my backpack dig into my back, soaking up most of my sweat, as I walk to school. The humidity made my sweat stick to my forehead. It's too damn early and the weekend isn't long enough. I let out a huge sigh. Dread fills me as I approach the double doors of the school entrance. They creek open mockingly as I walk in with a bunch of kids. Shit, I forgot to do my homework, I guess I'll just sloppily do it during lunch. Another heavy sigh.

I get lost in my thoughts as I walk inside. Everyone around squishes me towards the center and I follow them like a school of fish. I pull out my phone to check my grades. I barely noticed the people around me start to spread out, I just continue on my path to my class. The air is tense and I slightly look up from my phone to look around. The students around me are completely still besides the fact that they move to squish themself further against the lockers. I brush their meekness off and don’t pay attention to the area in front of me.

“Huh?” I bump my face first into something firm. And fluffy? “What?”

“Watch where you're going dumbass.” A deep grumbly voice says and none too happy. When I look up to see what or who I bumped into. It was a tall dark hedgehog just like me. He had upturned quills with red streaks in them. His face held ruby eyes that burned with rage which were, unfortunately, directed at me.

“Excuse me. What did you just call me?” I asked offended because what was this dude's problem? It was an accident and I didn't bump into him that hard.

“I called you a dumbass for not knowing where you were going. You bumped into me because you weren't looking forward, so therefore you’re a dumbass.” He said in a know it all tone with his arms crossed over his chest.

“You're standing in the middle of the hallway where incoming traffic comes inside. I think it's kinda dumb to stand in people’s way. Second, you had ample opportunity to warn me, step out of the way, or something!.” I said as I looked at him directly in the eyes before I turned to continue walking to my class.

I was roughly grabbed mid-step and pulled backwards. I looked at my backpack and saw that the stitching of the handle was ripped, so I threw my backpack onto the ground by the lockers so it wouldn't get more damaged. I had paid for it with my own money. It was a limited edition backpack from one of my favorite bands. With my beloved backpack out of the way I looked at that tall, handsome hedgehog. My irritation was evident in my eyes as I made prolonged eye contact into his angry red. My stance was in a fighting position with my hands clenched into fists at my side. The look in his eyes just screamed that they wanted to fight, to hurt, to kill. My eyes narrowed as his body language told me he was about to strike. His feet were shoulder width apart while his hands were balled up as they slowly unfurled from his crossed arm position.

The black hedgehog threw a punch towards my face but I ducked out of the way just in time. Holy shit this guy is fast, that's… surprising and mildly concerning. I am the fastest thing alive (besides Scourge), but I don't think that rings true now. How fun, now I have another super speed hedgehog to deal with as well as late homework, lucky me. My dodge just seemed to piss him off more. As he swiftly aimed an uppercut to hit me dead center in the stomach, I gasped as the air was knocked out of me. Ow, ow, a million times ow! His fist dug into me as spit sprayed from my mouth. I gripped my stomach in pain wheezing. I took a few seconds to get my bearings. With shallow breaths I aimed a punch at his face, making contact with his nose. That was a bad idea, not only was this guy’s face made of steel or something but he grabbed my wrist. Using my wrist as a handle he pulled me closer to him, almost touching chest to chest. The tense atmosphere zinged with electricity.

“Back down if you know what's good for you.” His breath came heavy and hot on my face. I could smell his lavender shampoo and cigarette breath.

“Nope, not gonna happen. I’m not scared of you and your pompous attitude.” Okay, I was lying. I was extremely intimidated by the taller, stronger, and super powered hedgehog in front of me, but he doesn't need to know that.

The other hedgehog threw another punch towards my face. My eyes widened as I couldn't dodge it so I prepared for an extremely painful hit to the face.
